They're probably going to keep it like that since it now doesn't break on movement, instead of just giving it a new animation. If anything, they could have given us death from above and have it burst feathers as be landed to give us "fantasy".

They'll just reskin/reuse what they can at every available opportunity. It's been happening in RPG games since the very beginning.
