    New build, upgrading my 7 yt old rig

    Hi guys, first of all thanks a lot for taking the time to read this and helping me out! I've been out of the loop or PC parts for a while, but I've been postponing a new build for a while now, and it is now time to get a new PC!

    As a side note, I will not be putting it together myself, simply because I'm not comfortable doing so. I'll be most likely getting it together on a site like ibuypower.com etc but I'm not really that knowledgeable when it comes to new components, which is why I decided to post here!

    Budget: $3500
    Resolution: 1920x1080 seems to be the standard still
    Games / Settings Desired: WoW, Swtor, Skyrim, D3 (high settings)
    Any other intensive software or special things you do (Frequent video encoding, 3D modeling, etc): I only use PC for gaming, and some photoshop _ office stuff for documents.
    Country: USA
    Parts that can be reused: None
    Do you need an OS?: Obviously I like Win 10
    Do you need peripherals (e.g. monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc)?: I might get new ones, I'd love to have some recommendations in terms of a good keyboard & mouse for gaming!

    Once again, lots of thanks! Cheers!

    Really big budget, but if you are planing to just play games in 1080p then you could just pick parts like on "unicorn" list here: http://www.mmo-champion.com/build-of-the-month/

    Instead gtx 970 you can probably take RX 480, but only if you want to wait for non-reference cooling since stock is just loud and bad.

    If your budget is that high i would look into 1440p gaming.

    I changed above build so it actually fits in your budget seeing the GPU price was not added, the GPU is placeholder, you should get a AIB one.

    @Denpepe I like that one slightly better not blowing money on stuff that's not needed IE m.2 SSD and 32GB of ram. Only thing I would suggest is possibley finding a nice second monitor to go with that one. Personally I can't go single monitor anymore.

    I would also not get a FE edition of the 1080... Those are just crap! But I guess it is a placeholder, seeing PCpartpicker has nothing in there...

    An i7 6700k might also be a consideration.

    Thanks so much to all of u helping me out! I have a question! Why i5 6600K over the newer ones? Like i7680K? Or they're just overkill for gaming?
    And like I mentioned, I am not gonna put the PC together myself, but rather use a pc building website, like ibuypower.com etc. Any recommendations there?

    Thanks again, much appreciated!

    Really, anything beyond a 6600k is not really needed for gaming. Games don't really need more cores or hyperthreading, so the most current, OCable i5 is generally going to give the same gaming performance as anything better than it.

    I would not recommend really buying from any of those types of sites. Many of them cut corners, using cheap parts in areas you re not allowed to define yourself. That or they just plain overcharge. If you really really do not want to build yourself(which I highly recommend, it's not near as difficult as you think and the parts are not near as delicate as you think), I would still buy the parts yourself and take them to a local computer shop and have them assemble it for you. Most will do this for a pretty reasonable fee and you'll still end up having spent less then any online builder site.

    Thanks again for all your replies. The thing about building my own, even after having watched "build it yourself" videos, I'm still not confident in building it myself (Especially the CPU part, and installing the Liquid Cooling :|).

    That being said, the rig I have now, I got it in 2009 from Ibuypower and luckily I never had any issues with it (this is not an endorsement of ibuypower, i'm just describing my personal situation).

    What do u guys think about this configuration:

    Case :: Thermaltake Versa H35 w/ Window Gaming Case
    LED Fan Lighting :: None
    Noise Reduction :: Advanced - iBUYPOWER Harmony SRS Sound Reduction System (Foam + Upgraded Silent Fans) Improved Airflow Silent Fans

    Processor Cooling :: Corsair Hydro Series H100i V2 240mm Liquid CPU Cooler
    Memory :: 16 GB [8 GB X2] DDR4-2400 Memory Module - Corsair Vengeance LPX
    Video Card :: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 - 8GB - EVGA Superclocked - Single Card
    Motherboard :: ASUS Z170-K --*Free Upgrade to ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming -- 3x PCIe x16, 2x USB 3.1, 4x USB 3.0, 1x M.2, DDR4 Memory

    With a budget like 3.5k shouldn't we be aiming for higher than 1080 resolution?
