Looking to upgrade my computer - Need help deciding

Currently I have a AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series

    I believe I have a 500w power supply

My processor is great but the graphics card needs an upgrade.

    Any suggestions?

I also believe my power supply will have to be upgraded as a result.

I'd be looking to spend up to 300 on a graphics card

and up to 200 on a power supply.

If anyone could lead me in the right direction. Theoretically you don't even have to research power supplies those are straight forward enough, but my knowledge on recent graphics cards have lessened over the years.

If I have to spend a little over 300 for a big upgrade from what it would be if I spent only 300 - that's ok too.

    I guess price is flexable.

Don't do this. The RX 480 is cheaper and performs about the same. Either that or wait for the 1060. The 970, and really everything from last gen outside extremely small budget options, are just not worth it now that the new stuff is out.

well my last 650 power supply cost a total of 40.00 canadian.

As far as a new GPU I recommend Nvidia over ATI anyday.
Nvidia just out performs ati in every aspect for gaming for non gaming ATI be your best bet.

Care to provide some benchmarks to back that statement up? You really can't. First of all because ATI does not even exist anymore, Radeon is made by AMD now. Second, it's just not true. Look here:
    https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/RX_480/24.html

I mean sure, the 1070 and 1080 vastly outperform the RX480, but then again, the 1070 is nearly twice the cost and the 1080 more than twice the cost, so I would expect that. On the other hand, the 970 is more expensive than the RX480 and does worse than it.

It is illogical to suggest him anything but a RX480 right now unless there is some sick deal on a 980GTX. People who hate/love only one brand should really open their eyes.

Depends on the rest of your system and the exact model of GPU you're getting, but in general you're going to be fine with 600-650W in most cases.
