Heh, "internet stars" with no credentials, that cater to millenials. For some reason I'm not feeling I'm at a disadvantage for not watching their blogs.

At least a pretty far cry from Ted Talks.

Well, what credentials do regular stars have? I mean does Kim Kardashian count as one of the stars with credentials? How about Nic Cage?

Had to google that RiceGum guy, found his Youtube channel, and I can't for the life of me figure out why he's popular.

There's some demographics that I just can't even imagine existing, but I guess there's truly something out there for everyone.

I just heard of him until last night. Im sure the infamcy that started yesterday will garner more attention than how he initially started out.
Same with meeting the actual finebros and the two that owned the React channels

But then again, many say that whole bitch fight recorded yesterday was probably staged (aka trying to stay relevant youtuber pranksters)

Well, as I mentioned below in my post, I frequently watch Ted Talks, 99% of the speakers there have credentials.

As also mentioned, everyone starts somewhere with their credentials. Before 2006, you couldn't initiate your hobby/career with youtube or so. Tedtalk started 2000's but didn't garner majority of its viewer until it started uploading their conferences free on Youtube.

And comparing Ted speakers to Youtube bloggers is comparing two different factors from the same category subject. The ted talkers are not exclusively speaking for youtubers. Using 'credentials' as a counter-argument will only lead this through an never-ending loop

Nic Cage has tons of recognizable movie credits to his name. Kim Kardashian is a home video porn star who dumb people have flocked to inexplicably. Two guesses as to where YouTube stars fall on that spectrum...

I like the idea of picking people I want to watch, and now who is presented to me. Kim Kardasian is someone who is presented, and not picked. If the media didnt build her up, then she would be no where.

I was never surprised by two Machinima stars being on the recent drama list. Only ones i respect are Sark and Hutch, Nanners messed up with that one issue awhile ago but he makes decent daily content and nobody really goes to him for "good" games.

I wasn't aware that we only were talking about game related videoblogs. TBH, I hadn't heard about any of those listed earlier in this thread and thought this thread covered videoblogs in general.

Anyways, I mainly watch videoblogs to gain information. These kinda reminds me of the local radio DJ's I grew up with in the 80's, without the music....

People haft to renember that A) 5 year's ago youtube didnt have "internet stars". Now they do so B) Star's, like IRL creates drama just by being themself's...hollywood.

None, but to get viewers you have to be entertaining to watch... Not sure what you're really getting at here. The person you responded to doesn't consume that kind of entertainment because random uneducated opinions don't appeal to them.

Also if people find them entertaining, great. I prefer people deciding who is entertaining by watching who they want rather than being presented with options. Being presented with options brings you the Kardasians.

You don't think video game stuff comes with a healthy dose of opinions? Are you playing stupid now? Being presented with options also brings tons of high quality entertainment. Just because there's some shit out there(and the Kardashians aren't the first trash people to get famous from reality TV) doesn't mean there isn't high quality entertainment available to you as well. Without being presented options I would have never gotten Firefly or Breaking Bad or any number of other truly great TV shows. Likewise with movies. Guess what, there's also a ton of indie shit out there(it used to be called public access) that is people doing their own thing and hoping to find an audience.

Its video game stuff first and foremost with a figure people find entertaining. Its not meant to be high brow entertainment. However the Kardashians, while not high brow, are a product of the usual entertainment industry, the same industry many get their "credentials from".

I dont think you understand what being presented with options means when I say it. You are being told, this is entertainment, not choosing this is entertainment.

That video game stuff is mostly their opinions on things(or their reactions to things). The Kardashians aren't a product of the usual entertainment industry. They're a product of the tabloid entertainment industry. Vastly different things there buddy.

Guess what, you're also being told everything on youtube is entertainment, not choosing this is entertainment. You choose what's YOUR entertainment when you choose to watch something.

That is the entertainment industry. The Tabloid industry is a part of the entertainment industry.

Anyone can post on youtube. People on youtube are popular only because people found them to be entertaining. No one presented them with many of the stars. People found stars they liked.

There's this chick on Youtube that somehow showed up on my home page one day, I think she's the chick that made some clickbait asking if dogs have brains or some shit.

Anyhoo, she likes to make videos late at night of her wearing no makeup (she normally has on at least a pound of makeup and hair extensions) and bawling her eyes out about various vapid topics, such as:

-I got dumped
-I got dumped again
-My boyfriend is gay
-My friends are fake

Etc.

Anyhoo, she was fun for a laugh. But now I'm starting to suspect bipolar disorder, she's not a convincing-enough actress for the tears to be fake.
