No we are great heroes that face up to every goliath and come to the rescue of every damsel in distress, oh wait you are talking about mmo's right?!

I'd argue that today's generation is no more whiny, more of pussies, etc than any other generation. The only difference now is that the internet gives these people voices and the means to communicate with other like minded people that wasn't present before.

So if it was called "Pink Friday" would there be any less violence?
The name has nothing to do with the violence. The people going ape-shit over the deals is where the violence comes from.
Doesn't matter what you call it.

Most of these "heroes" prefer to faceroll it on the easiest difficulty possible.

Personally, if I was banning Black Friday, it wouldn't be for the name but rather the fact that it drives people into a consumer frenzy and both encourages and emphasizes just how greedy our culture is.

  6. #26
Probably, but I doubt you'll convince many people of that here. A website comprised of gamers and latte-sipping undergraduates is surely more courageous than whatever came before

I don't compare what I call a pussy to what others call it.
Doubt there's a big difference between generations tho.

So, you replied to a question about the name, with a reply, that has nothing to do with the name?

I've also heard it for stock market crashes.

I'm not sure how it's used in the Netherlands that might justify people taking issue with it though.

Or a yawing hole in a battered head

You tell them that all of the places in Germany you have heard of that they reportedly have the best selection of cheese and flowers.

My ex wrote her dissertation about something similar, the TLDR version was something like:

Internet = people + more connections == (more comparisons + low self esteem)

The internet (and particularly social media) has had an paradoxical effect; more people than ever are now better connected than ever before, but it's lead to more people than ever being over exposed (via comparison, etc) leading to self esteem, identity and other issues.

I'm not phrasing it very well -and she did very well from the dissertation -the paper was 22k words long and surmised for me what is a very real difficulty for a large number of people (not just the young) finding their place in the world today.

Specifically to OP's definition... I think the generations I see as 'young' are definetly soft and whilst I do (obviously) agree with the views above I also blame the overly politically correct liberal lefty media/news a lot of the impressionable young have to suffer.

People today that get so easily offended are nothing but pussies in my eyes

Yet there's also a lot of people that try and push ideals through that are worthwhile for many people (such as same sex marriage).
Way more than before atleast - I'd call them "anti pussies" since it takes courage to stand and work for the respect that many people deserve.

I think it evens out in the end.

I wouldn't even go as far as to blame left, right, or anything politically or media biased. The internet has just over exposed people to everything and through the internet, every person's voice can be heard. People haven't gotten soft from some birth anomaly or the news. You just have every single idiot with a view point posting it onto internet forums, social media, and blogs and connecting with others who share the view point, thus validating their opinions whether right or wrong, instead of writing it in their diaries/journals like they used to.

People have always been the same whiny bitches they are today. They just used to keep it more to themselves and lacked a forum to share their thoughts, much less connect, with similar people. So now they're just more vocal and in your face.

    More of a percentage yes.

    /shrug.

As much as I hate social movements , at least they have the balls to get out and do something more than retweet a hashtag. Or maybe everyone has always been a butch and now the Internet just makes us aware of them.

Whatever. I'm not a pussy. That's as far as I know. Anything more is speculation.

In holland they are banning or changing plenty of words that have anything "black" in it even though it doesn't even mean anything towards the black culture. Like how sad do you need to be to want to ban "Black Friday" Like you get offended by something like that?
Same goes to our 100 year old cultures that we changing just because some special snowflake gets offended over nothing.

Do you think todays Generation has no balls what so ever?
100 years ago people were aghast at the sight of a woman's bare shoulder too, culture changes as time goes on.
Also, literally every generation ever has thought the generation after them sucked. That's nothing new.

People try to explain to me how they got by without smartphones.

They say they had to use a desktop to surf porn back in the day, that's hard core.

It's a traditional character portrayal, even if they are supposed to be black slaves.
Kids never saw them as "african" or "black", they saw them as people that were black from all the stuff in chimneys.
It's just the adults having problems with it as usual.

I do like the idea of having all kinds of coloured Pieten tho.
