Another Tip from me would be: Ask your Community. There are some topics were there is some consensus in communities about how playing certain things. Like the rate elves age. I'm pretty sure your server also has some channels for elven roleplayers? We have some for every important RP-Community on our server, like Church, Dwarfs, Elves, Undeads and so on.

Of course, I roleplay on the biggest EU RP server after all, so you're right about that.

But this particular character will only be "exposed" to friends that I roleplay with in set arcs, if you know what I mean;nothing is set on how we are roelplaying the arc, but there is usually a story that only the RP Leader -usually me- is aware of. Who knows? MAYBE if I liked him enough I can expose him in small capacities to other roleplayers. He will be very lacking in term of development though considering his role is literally "i was the damsel in distress and mommy is looking for me". It's his effect on my other character (the mother) that makes him important, since she never met him ever since he was snatched of her at the age of a couple of months. Long story.

Very interesting you brought that up actually. I once almost single handidly destroyed a Kaldorei guild because I revealed to them that a "13 years old elf isn't a baby", and cited Valeera Sanguinar, leaving them speechless. Something are just aren't up to perception as you know; there are clear examples in lore and one should live by.

Case in point: Just because a race lives very long doesn't necessarily mean they grow up at the same rate than humans -- I mean, a human lives for 70 years typically, and hits puberty at 15 years old on average, almost 1/5 of their age. Does that mean if elves used to live for 10 thousands years that they hit puberty on the age of 2000? That's kind of ridiculous. The way I see it (and as it seems to be the canon way if Valeera is to be considered) is, a 13 years old elf is equal to a 13 years old human, but they live much longer; lingering in their adult life.

Hope that made sense to you.

I'm with you at this point. Maybe things are a little bit slower, but not that much. Like with my Half-Elf, I played that he was a late bloomer and hit puberty like one or two years after the other children around him, but not a too big difference. What could be possible is that Night Elves have a longer puberty, as I think they are about as big as humans in their childhood but end up around 30-40 centimeters bigger as adults, which could be interpreted as a longer or more extensive period of growth. That's only my personal interpretations. But I don't think that like 200 years until they are adult would make sense in a evolutinary sense. This wouldn't be useful, as there would be a big danger that a mother gets pregnant again while their children is still a 20 year old toddler. I would say that a 13 years old elf is physically equal to a 13 years old human, but not emotional, as I could imagine that the Night Elves take it slower with the socialisation and education. But that would be more a cultural and not a physical difference, just like today a human being is considered an adult with 18 to 21 while in the past teenagers about 14-15 often had to fulfill the role of an adult and therefore needed to mature faster (and as far as I know on Azeroths human community children can be considered adults once they reach 14-15. I know there was once a Stockade quest in classic about the son or nephew of a woman who was killed as a guard there at the age of 13 or 14, which means that's the age were human teenagers can be considered adults and join the military).

Shitty writting, I hope you get what I mean.

Not shitty. I understand what you're saying perfectly. I am also not an English native speaker.

I think it is safe to assume that on the emotional/consciousness/awareness side of things, elves can be considered less mature than humans of the same age, and to a certain degree of course. Yeah, I can agree with that as long as it isn't extreme.

Not like "I'm a 17 year old Night Elf Teen with huuuuuuuge Boobies, but emotionally I'm like 5". That would be also illogical. I would even say, Night Elves still mature faster than High Elves did while their culture was intact, because of the way their society works. And we also have to consider that many steps of the process of maturing are lead by our physical development, the development of our cognitive abillities and the beginning of puberty, when we start to look more and more like Adults. I think the contact with the humans will also change the way how Night Elves mature, because when they meet and interact with humans who are probably often by far further in their development, they start to compete with them. That's how kids and teenagers work, they don't want to be less mature than others in their age. Especially like, some militaristic example, a 14 year old Night Elf Girl who once wants to be a Sentinel meets a human squire, who is, at the age of 14, already trained in arms.
