Could this be hinting at something to come?

I was playing on my pally on the beta last night when something quite interesting happened. I was doing part of the Paladin Class quest line in which you need to help free several priests and paladins who were captured by the Legion. You return to the Order Hall to turn in the quests where you meet up with an ally who works with one of your paladin followers. She is Delas Moonfang who is a Priestess of Elune and she asks you if she can become a paladin. After a ceremony you lead, she becomes a Night Elf paladin. Do you think Blizzard maybe hinting at Night Elves becoming paladins in a future expansion?

Yeah, I saw that too. I wouldn't be too surprised if this was a hint similar to Tahu (the first Sunwalker Priest) back in WotlK in 3.3.

I'm betting on nelf paladin for next expansion. Just like the "questioning tauren priestess" in TB was a hint for the tauren paladins.

The interesting part will be the lore behind it. Will they simply worship Elune like NE priestess do. Or will some "sun" worshiping be a thing, seeing Elune more like the tauren's earth mother (who she is, but in Tauren's belief system the moon and the sun are her eyes)

Would be an interesting twist that the tauren being heavily influenced by the NE culture would now have an impact back on them.

And yes, I like my lore evolving. I'm no "herp derp lore is marble of god, it should never move, this is sacrilege"

Outside of maybe undead, I don't see why any race can't be paladins. Anyone can see "the Light", and be "converted", ya know?

Gnomes..........Ladder of Light.........enables gnomes to reach the light.

As to NE Pallys.....I don't know if I buy it. There is a Panda DK garrison follower and Panda's aren't DKs in Legion. And if they add an allaince race to Pally they'd have to had one to Horde.
Me thinks Chromie has a whole lot of splaining to do!

When an undead can be a holy priest, which gets burned every time it heals someone (at least according to lore), then following that the every race should be able to be any class. Except for Tauren rogues.

Undead would actually make sense as Paladins, now more than ever with the whole "martyr" fantasy aspect of Holy. The light feels painful to them, but they are still healed by it. Holy Paladins have some abilities light Light of the Martyr, Blessing of Sacrifice and Martyr Aura that are all about inflicting pain on themselves in order to heal/protect their allies.

Also, some Undead are still devoted to the Light. Zeliek in Naxxaramas could still wield the Light despite being corrupted and turned evil. Leonid Barthalomew's faith has always been with the Light, leaving the Forsaken to join the Argent Dawn. While he doesn't appear to wield the Light himself, he's devoted his entire undeath to serving it. Even the followers of the Cult of Forgotten Shadow believe that there needs to be a balance between Light and Shadow, since one can't exist without the other. That's basically how they justified Forsaken Priests being able to be Holy and Discipline.

Lore-wise, the Forsaken would be the easiest race to justify as Paladins, out of the remaining ones.

Not at all. Alliance has access to 3 races for shamans. Horde has 5.
    It's high noon.

Id love to see Night Elf paladins. It really does make sense. I mean sunwalkers for taurens was hinted at for a long time, I could easily see Night Elfs being paladins and thats being hinted at a lot in Legion.

As for the class to faction thing, as Thyr pointed out Alliance has 3 races for shamans while the horde has 5, so its clearly okay to have more paladins on alliance side then there is on horde side.

Well, they introduced Tauren Pallies / Priests with a questline several patches before they went live, so ...
I am the one who knocks ... because I need your permission to enter.

    OH what the shit!

If Night Elves can become paladins BEFORE Undeads, I'm just gonna give up (not in any serious way)
and dont tell me paladins can't be undead, they have priests...

They have shadow priests with maybe 1 or 2 regular priests.

I'm going to say no. This is not the first time that Blizzard have tried to quickly build a character by identifying them as something unique, and its something they seem to do a lot with garrison followers.

Gravewalker Gie - Pandaren Death Knight
There has been a single NPC Undead Paladin, cant remember their names though.
    And now this character.

Characters like this have never set a precedent before, and I doubt we will see Night Elf Paladins in light of this.

Didn't play the paladin much on beta, so that's a neat little find. Honestly, im at the point where I think every race should have the ability to be any class. That said, I'll be interested in the Night Elf paladin lore. I'm thinking kind of the opposite of the Tauren Sunwalkers, maybe they continue to worship Elune so they derive their abilities from the moon. Moonstriders.

There have been one or two undead paladins, but for the most part we have to realise the important of the difference between priests and paladins.

Priests wield the light, they call up on it and merely use it as a tool.
Paladins are a beacon, a bastion of the light, and it fills their mind body and soul completely. They secrete the light and it is part of them. Being undead and having that power is utterly excruciating for the poor bugger. Undeath and Light are incompatible and their body is literally fighting against itself. Sir Zeliek cries in pain as you fight him because its doing the same to him.

Very few Undead would actually survive this, if they were stupid enough to even try.

Call them Eclipse Knights, or Knights of the Eclipse.

nelf polodins make just as much sense as canned beef poladians.
    Which is none.
