Time for a new computer - please help

Hey all I posted about a year or so ago asking for a desktop well my budget has increased a bit since then and would like some pointers on a new desktop

    Budget - 1300

Resolution - not sure what to put here

Games / Settings Desired - WoW (Rarely raid mostly just arenas and BGs, Overwatch, LoL, most blizzard games - I would like to reach ultra settings even if I have to turn like shadows off, I'm okay with only reaching high on overwatch

Any other intensive software or special things you do (Frequent video encoding, 3D modeling, etc) - none

    Country - Canada

Parts that can be reused - I have " EVGA 550 power supply" don't include that in the budget

Do you need an OS? Research showed me to buy windows 10 on Kinguin

Do you need peripherals (e.g. monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc)? Will need a monitor

keyboard and mouse I will buy myself not included in the budget, but on that note anyone
    Have any suggestions or preferences

Depending on your situation you can drop the HDD. Windows not included (have no idea how much is it in CAD).

Awesome thanks. Anything you'd change or add if I had an extra 100$ in the budget

Also what's the difference between a 60 hz monitor and 144 is it super noticeable ?

Can you check the exact model of the evga psu you got? And how old is it? Gtx1060 in canada seems around 400cad. Other than that i would prefer an IPS monitor everyday.

I received the EVGA Psu from a friend as he owed me about $110 and he said this would cover it we're close enough so I took his word on it. It's brand new never been opened.
Here's a link to what it is can't post links but this should do

    evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=220-G2-0550-Y1

Super noticable for FPS games. Not so much for other games. If the budget was $100 more I would go with this:

    Awesome thanks so much guys

Hey guys I'm back with a Couple questions. So I've decided to go with thunderballs suggested set up because A friend pointed out that the Asus mother board was really good. That same friend had said if I wanted to save a few bucks j could go with a Gtx 970 instead of the 1060. I'm wanting to play legion on ultra and probably civilization 6 on higher settings, what're your guys thoughts on that? Is there a huge difference between the 970 and 1060?

Second question if in the future I ever wanted to have dual monitor is that possible with the set ups you've recommended ?

Third question does anyone have any recommendations for an antivirus? From what I can find on Google reviews and suggestions most people seem to say things like malware bytes.

Thanks again in advance guys !

Not a huge difference. GTX 1060 is about 6% faster than GTX 970, cooler, consumes less power and cheaper. On antivirus if you're looking for some weekly on-demand file scan you're probably fine with Windows Defender, if you want full system protection go with Kaspersky Total Security or BitDefender.

Okay perfect thanks. One last thing The build you've posted for me if I upgraded the monitor to the original one you had suggested the 24" 144 hz BenQ would I be able to support the frame rate with the 1060?

I'd say you would be hoving around 100 FPS in OW and WoW, obviously higher in other Blizzard games and LoL. 144Hz monitor will really help for OW but if it's not that important for you, I suggest looking into 27 inch IPS screen such as http://pcpartpicker.com/product/8VkD...monitor-mx279h or http://pcpartpicker.com/product/qNGj...monitor-s2715h.

Thanks a lot you've been a lot of help. One last thing a friend of mine that I'm moving in with is curious how much it would cost to build a desktop strictly for Torrenting movies, music also storing photos and videos.

He would need everything like keyboard monitor mouse. Grab windows from Kinguin. Just curious if how much his budget would need to be for something like that? 300-400$?

    *shrug* kids today!

for literally just playing / storing media / music on your tv? no blu-ray drive or anything? fanless? what kinda size is acceptable? do you need windows and mouse/keyboard or would linux and a fancy remote be an option?

sorry there are many ways to do it - cheapest is prob buy a beat-up old laptop on ebay for $50 and just use that, but it is not very elegant :P

With that low of a budget you really should check out used market in your area, can get far far better value for money.

So bad news for me everywhere I'm checking online and when I called memory express they said that the GTX 1060 is out of stock and won't be available till probably October. I was okay with paying 400$ (CAD) for the 1060 but I looked and the 1070s are around 600 which I don't want to pay unless I have to. Can you suggest a different video card that would go with the build please?

Would this be okay or is the rest of the computer overkill for it?

If you cant find a 1060 look for a used 970. Make sure its EVGA branded, the warranty transfers thru owners and is tied to card.

I know its kijiji and I'll have to see but if warranty is transferable this one would be okay yeah? and its only 280.

Shouldn't I be worried about people overclocking their stuff to shit even if they say they haven't?

Next up in order is RX 480. Make sure to avoid reference versions.
