yeah, I write things when super tired and can't sleep, thanks for correcting that ... I have no idea what I was looking at now; but it just makes the point that people buy far too large power supplies even moreso.

Final proof of the point, SLI 1080 being benchmarked, total system draw from the wall = 437 watts, 280 watts with a single card. Video stats at the graph displaying that info.

So, really, a 350-500 watt PSU is plenty enough for pretty much anyone building a new system today with intel and nvidia parts; not the 750 watt suggestion earlier in the thread.

If 250GB is enough for you, that one is fine, the Samsung 850 EVO is a really good one from benchmarks I recall seeing quite some time ago.
    My PC Build 4790k @ 4.7 GHz @ 1.28v; 1080 @ +175 core, +500 memory

For 250/256gb ssd go i would suggest either the MX200 or Samsung 850 evo. The samsung is a tiny bit faster but its not noticeable except benchmarks so price tells you which one to get. If its a few $ the you can grab the Samsung if its over 10$ then the Crucial one.

There are definetely more options if both dont fit the budget.

I'm just more concerned with dropping too much money at once. Lets say I want a mediocre SSD? Or should I just go for the fastest of the fast?

I mean either way it cuts load times by like 80% right?

Depends on your budget. With a $500 budget you can definetely fit a decent SSD and a GTX 1070 at once.

    You could do this

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

    Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($90.49 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 8GB G1 Gaming Video Card ($429.99 @ SuperBiiz)
    Total: $520.48
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

A bit above the 500 dollar mark. You could also look for a Crucial BX200, those are 20-30 bucks cheaper.

Crucial BX200 are a very poor choice now that Trion 150 and Force LE are out.
