    Watching couples text each other

Why? It always ends up in some sort of highschool drama. Why even text your SO when you can just talk to each other voice to voice. I swear. the drama that texting ensues is just ridiculous. Everything gets taken out of context and nothing meaningful gets across from a text.

    Really?

'Hey, pick up some milk and eggs after work please"
    "Okay will do"

Much easier to text than call for something simple like this.

Why have you been watching enough couples text to form an opinion about what happens when they text?

Yeah. Real successful husband and wives use texting to make their lives more efficient.
There's lots of minor things which can be communicated via texts.

Yes. Me and my wife both work. It's MUCH easier to text each other through out the day than to call her 500 times a day for every little thing that pops into our heads. I can check a text when I have 5 seconds. I can't stop for 2 minutes for a phone call very often.

I would actually go so far as to say that our communication had picked up since texting became more accessible.

I don't want to call my gf at work so I just text her and she can check it when it suits her.

    Yes.

Moreover, texts are great for when you need to pass some information but you know the other person is likely to be busy, so you send them a text that they can glance at and respond to you whenever they're ready. Much more efficient than leaving voicemails.
'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers clogged with rotting red
And there they lay I damn me eyes
    All lookouts clapped on Paradise
All souls bound just contrarywise, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

So glad I don't have one of those dmn annoying things. Don't need it for my job (butcher) and I have a home phone through my internet connection. And anyone who I would answer the phone for knows where I live anyway.

"Watching couples text each other" sounds like some kind of fetish site. Where do I sign up?

Texting is dangerous in times of auto correct.

I get what you are trying to say. What I get from it is : you have high school level drama with your SO via texting. You're the only example, in my age group, that I know of that has this problem.

My wife and I text each other all the time.

"Don't forget to grab some milk at the store."
    "Do we need anything else?"
"I think we're low on tea, so grab some of those."

"The train's been delayed, I might be a little late."
"Alright, dinner should keep in the stove on low for a bit."

"Be sure to bring the satchel full of unmarked bills to the drop-off."
"I got three bricks, and picked up an untraceable piece from the Northeast."

One of those isn't a real exchange, though.
"We're more of the love, blood, and rhetoric school. Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see." ― Tom Stoppard, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead

Auto correct is a pain, but it does teach you a lesson to read your message before sending it. The hard way usually
