Thread: ~$2k Budget

    Thumbs up ~$2k Budget

    Hey all,

I'm a resident Aussie, and recently built myself the below machine.

    https://www.pccasegear.com/wish_lists/559297/

I'm going on holiday to 'murica in a few months, and while there, the person I'll be staying with has asked me to build him a "badass computer" XD

I'd imagine I should be able to get similar spec's (gfx upgraded hopefully to the pascal equivalent) + the SSD(s)Ii imported from my machine for around the same price given it's USD vs AUD, different sites and much less exorbitant shipping prices than we're slammed with for being Aussies! BUT therein lies my problems... I don't KNOW the US sites to use to get good deals on the parts!

I was initially looking for one of Chaud's "Build of the month" threads but i guess they have been gone probably about as long as I've been gone from WoW!

Thanks in advance for any and all help with this. I'm very content with the build i've done and had some very sound tech advice behind it with component choices, but am not opposed to modifying parts either.

    ~~Evi

Chaud still does the Builds of the Month. There's a link to them at the top of the homepage.

Man almost $700 for a 1080 seems too much! Unless you are trying to run VR or 4k stuff...

Thats what they go for, demand is still crazy.

Chose a 1070 and a monitor instead of a 1080. Where are you going to be staying, that is what will matter where to buy your parts from to avoid taxes. Newegg and NCIX US only charge tax in cali, B&H only in new york, amazon it varies (you would have to look it up). But those are really the only vendors i trust, so id stick with those 4.
