Thread: Bad PSU?

    Bad PSU?

    Hey guys,

So, I purchased a GTX 1070 and picked up a power supply yesterday.
I've yet to put anything together, but from what I've read, this power supply has some very conflicting reviews - one end of the spectrum praises it, and I've seen a few posts on reddit stating that the cx750m series is fine, but I've also found a lot of people bashing it and saying it's absolutely awful, and that I shouldn't use it.

Before I put everything together, I'd like to see if I can get some input on this specific component combination -- is the power supply really so bad that I should return it immediately and wait for a new one to arrive in the mail? I'm a little impatient and excited to get everything going, and unfortunately can't find any stores in my general vicinity that sell actual high-end components, so I would have to order online and wait a few days for it to come in.

Definitely not the best one around but it should work ok enough, we tend to discourage people to avoid the corsair CX line as they are very hit and miss, but if you have a good one by chance it's mostly as good as any other.

Thanks, I'm going to return it - purchased a Supernova G2 650w which Amazon happened to have available for same day delivery.
Seems crazy to me that there is such a difference in quality for an extra $10.
