Now, we all know in the various roleplaying server communities, there is a certain "stigma" against people who choose to roleplay half-elves among other half-breeds. I'm creating this post to ask you guys what you think about half-breeds and how you (and your character/s) treat them IC, but I also want to piece together a little opinionated post of my own as well as give a minor guide to people who do decide to roleplay half-breeds.
Remember that half-elves are disliked by a large portion of their human and elven counterparts, now this doesn't mean that people will come running at you with pitchforks and torches, but if you are in Stormwind or Quel'thalas, you will face some discrimination. Now, just because A LOT of humans and blood/high elves will shun you, doesn't mean the other races will. In truth, there's little justification other races could have for disliking you.
Certain half-breeds will be respected than others just by heritage alone. A half-elf almost certainly always be treated better than a half-orc for example. It ultimately depends on how close the two races are with one another.
I've never roleplayed a half-elf, but I roleplayed a gnome who had dwarven heritage. Now this hasn't been explored at all in lore, but since gnomes and dwarves live together and have a close relationship to one another, it's not too illogical or lore-breaking for a hybrid of a dwarf and a gnome to be born and for that half-gnome to breed with a gnome and create a gnome who is a quarter dwarf.
Now, this doesn't mean you should be any hybrid, it has to make sense and it has to be justifiable. Instead of asking if too races can breed, a better question would be if they would want to breed. Why would a human be attracted to a jungle troll and vice versa?
