MMO-Champion, Ads and Popups.

Hey MMO-C folks, you guys really need to work on your ads screening process. In the last 72 hours ive gotten over 20 pop-up or redirect ads on MMO-C in both Win 10 Chrome and iOS Safari. On two occasions now I've gotten a popup saying "You're WoW is damaged, click here to repair" on Windows with MMO-C being the only open tab. When I click the close X, my Avast pops up with an alert and blocks your page. This only happens with MMO-C and not on any other sites I visit regularly.

And yes, I have checked my end for spy/malware. I between CCleaner, Malwarebytes and Avast Pro, my system is as clean as it can get, and Chrome only has the chromecast extension loaded and nothing else.

I'm not sure if this is related, but when I open Blizz Launcher with MMO-C's mainpage loaded, it always starts a scan and repair of WoW automatically, but when I open Blizz App first, it does not happen. This only triggers when MMO-C is open. not other sites. I even wiped all my blizz games and re-downloaded/installed.

MMO-C is impossible to read on iOS due to redirect ads every 5 seconds.

Edit: I did turn back on adBlock to stop the issues. I wanted to support MMO-C with a bit of ad revenue, but until this is cleared up =/

I reinstated my adBlock, yeah. I did'nt want to because I like and respect MMO-C, and wanted to give them a bit of ad-revenue.

I mean I'm blocking 37 ads on this page alone. If it was 2-3 I would allow this site to go unfiltered but, 37 they can kiss my ass and stay blocked. That and you posted this in the wrong area so it will most likely get either locked or deleted.

I usually let ads through on sites I like and trust, ya know? Do my part to keep them afloat, but its been so bad.

This site made me install adblock.

Like you said, a couple of ads and I'm all for supporting them but its a complete pisstake. I'm also pretty sure I got malicious stuff from here way back when I used IE that basically just kept playing an ad on a loop every so often no matter what.

theres your issue here let me help you out.

First download Firefox a much more secure browser then once installed go to google type in adblock plus Free addons that block AD's and popups ads and so on.
Then once you click on it and install it for FREE. You will never again have to worry about stuff like this.
Did I mention it is free.

I fail to see how that solves THE issue. I'd love to support mmo-c ( jk, who am I kidding ), but 35+ adds per page is fucking insane. Especially considering how many people use the site.


At the end of the day, shit like Adblock plus would've never been made if sites didnt overpopulate their pages with adds like this.

I have to agree, It gets worse when there's 10-20+ embedded youtube videos on the main page also and everything is trying to load at once.

Unless a website vets each and every advert that goes on it's page i'll be blocking, The ad providers more often than not let malicious ones through.

For the front page news just use mmmoc.thoorium.com on mobile, No ads & super fast.

Here's another one for you too. If I leave MMO champion opened in the background on chrome while playing wow, my laptop CPU usage is about 20% higher, and my fans and temps all run much higher.

I get this exact same thing. Chrome always eats into my framerate when MMO-C lays idle

All these ad's have malware in them thus adblock plus saves the day It aint just MMO camp that has ad's you know.

Unusable on iOS. I get redirected all the time to some shady bullshit adware sites.

Reddit according to another thread have their own advertising platform, one they control.
Not something feasible for smaller sites, but Curse is not small.
This isn't something that is going to be resolved by any number of reports of bad ads, yet that is the only solution we are given.
