    Affliction artifact

Mentione din a forum elsewhere, but someone made a good point

Uthalesh and it;s "talents" are clearly designed around the original mechanic: that souls escaped, which the warlock could kill. Therefore, having artifact traits based around "on death" buffs made perfect sense, they synergise with each other.

Except now they don't, because the artifact doesn;t work like that any more. Affliction is now bound to gold traits that are tied to whether encounters have things that die, and preferably lot sof things.

It seems to be a classic case of the left hand knoweth not what the right hand doeth.

Blizzard made a post several months back (can't find it quickly enough at the moment) that they were going to change it to work with the new souls from the staff instead. That would make it so that Wrath of Consumption and Soul Flame proc when using Reap Soul. Not sure if they actually changed it, but that would make it so that we're optimal in melee range due to Soul Flame procs.

They didn't. Reap Soul changes never worked through to the Gold traits

I mentioned that on the WoW forums yesterday too.

The artifact traits seem to give nice boosts for killing those souls that broke free, but doesn't really do much for affliction warlocks without that linchpin ability.
