Heartbreak Ridge or Platoon. Generation Kill for series.
And I saw, and behold, a pale horse: and he that sat upon him, his name was Death; and Hades followed with him. And there was given unto them authority over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with famine, and with death, and by the wild beasts of the earth.
Black Hawk Down
A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don’t have one, you’ll probably never need one again.
All Quiet on the Western Front
Saving Private Ryan tied with Full Metal Jacket.
Taegukgi was one of the better war movies I have seen.
Everything pales in comparison to Band of Brothers (I know, it is tv series) tho.

Everyone has listed some really great movies so I will add one I have not seen mentioned yet. The Bridge on the River Kwai
Besides all the obvious ones previously mentioned, My Way(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Way_(2011_film) is an awesome South Korean made film.
Too many to name... I'll give a few.
Saving Private Ryan
We Were Soldiers
Flag of our Fathers
Letters from Iwo Jima
Full Metal Jacket
Zulu. (1964)
Bridge Over the River Kwai
The Pianist
Downfall
The Great Escape
Does Good Morning Vietnam count?
There are just so many don't make me choose one lol

Unsubbed since January 2021, now a Warcraft fan from a distance
Lawrence of Arabia
Tora Tora Tora
Catch-22
The Great Escape, by far. Then perhaps Apocalypse Now or Where Eagles Dare.
"I was a normal baby for 30 seconds, then ninjas stole my mamma" - Deadpool
"so what do we do?" "well jack, you stand there and say 'gee rocket raccoon I'm so glad you brought that Unfeasibly large cannon with you..' and i go like this BRAKKA BRAKKA BRAKKA" - Rocket Raccoon

Couple of Favourites
Full Metal Jacket
Apocalypse Now
Heartbreak Ridge
GI Jane.
Good Morning Vietnam
Whilst GI Jane is not strictly a "War" movie, it does deal with the military and her gaining acceptace as a SEAL. and does have a war scenario at the end. So it makes my list.
Does Forrest Gump count as a war movie? Literally the only war movie I can think of is All Quiet on the Western Front. I haven't seen any of the other ones listed here (with the exception of non serious responses like Captain America: Civil War)
The Enemy Below
It's about a battle between a destroyer and a u-boat as the captains try to outwit each other and destroy the opposing ship, and they're a couple of pretty awesome actors in Robert Mitchum and Curt Jurgens.
I recommend it, its on Netflix.
older? Patton, no question
newer? Fury
