No one ever unless he commits genocide i don't see any one ever been jailed put on trial because their son murdered some one not even the son will be procecuted to the full extend of the law in his own country because he is a son of a high end diplomat.

Diplomatic immunity makes some sense, since there are countries with very stupid laws and diplomats just wouldn't be able to work there - take North Korea, for example, where being a diplomat would be a suicide without immunity.
