Darkmoon card: Promises + Arcane mage

Is this combo viable? The arcane mage has arcane blast at 3.2% of base mana. At 110, base mana is 1,100,000.

3.2% of base mana is 35,200

At 850 ilvl, that is a reduction of 230 to 920 mana. For simplicity sake, lets say that's an average of 575 mana reduction.

575 mana reduction doesn't seem like much. Each arcane blast will cost 176,000 mana without the trinket or 173,125 without the trinket.

It would only be a reduction of close to 3,000 mana.

    It seems a bit underwhelming...

arcane Blast costs 3% of base mana, which as you said is 1,100,000 at 110. 3% of base mana is 33,000.

lets assume 40% mastery as this gives us a nice easy 50% increased mana pool. so 1,650K total mana.

remember cost of Arcane blast increases by 100% with each stack, so cost goes: 33K, 66K,99K,132K,165K.

so after each cast, assuming no regen, mana pool would be 98%, 94%, 88%,80%,72%

NOW, the question is DOES this trinket work as described.

According to the item it reduced the BASE cost of spells by between 350 - 1350 mana which is not much until you take into account the cost multiplier.

lets assume perfect operation, all spells reduced by 1350 mana, AB costs 31,650, and stacks: 63,300;94,950;126,600;158,250.

    so after each cast 98.08%, 94.24%, 88.49%, 80.81%, 73.22%

if you kept casting at 4 stacks youd save about 6,750 mana. not great. if this is modified by spellpower or mastery I cant find any mention of it.

now with Mastery:savant at 40% you'll have roughly 50% increased mana regen as well , which is nice but does not scale with your increased mana pool.

at 4 stacks you' d do ~1% more damge due to saved mana and might have a little more dps from regen but...

I can not see any this could result in a DPS upgrade over an Int/mastery trinket. but i'll test and confirm. I think this one may be a healer item

This trinket is worthless for an arcane mage. The concept sounds great, though!
