Worst leveling experience despite least technical issues?

Let me preface this by saying i wasn't one of the lucky guys to get into the beta, so i went in not knowing much about Legion questing. I have heard that Highmountain and Stormheim were bad, so i started in that order just to have the more enjoying questing experience when the game gets harder (106+). Thing is, with all the running around, unnecessary long RP and escort quests, quests that were cool, like the "teach the gnome to hunt" one, but just got too grindy for no good reason...i found myself getting to 110 and just wanting to log out for the first time after an expansion launch. That's how uninspired and all over the place the quests felt to me. Sure, when i got to Suramar, the questing got more familiar, but it was already late...i just can't imagine myself leveling a bunch of alts through these zones...

P.S. What happened to the xp from beta to the live version? Everyone was saying that 2 and a half zones of questing were gonna be enough to get to 110, but it was nowhere near that. If you don't do the dungeon quests you literally just have enough quests to get to 110...

Wasn't the whole point of scaling that you were not gonna be forced to do every quest in every zone, and maybe skip one that you don't like? O_O

Later edit: to explain it further, there are quests that require you to kill stuff while in a vehicle, and those give no xp. Why would such a quest need me to shoot down 40 bats, when 10 or 12 would've accomplished the same thing?
Again, compared to WoD when almost all quest hubs were marked on your map, this time there are plenty of quests that are easily missed, and that actually award reputation or are part of a larger chain that results in a lot of xp. Wouldn't it be natural to follow the same model, even if some say that it's too noob-friendly.

"When the game gets harder"... Lol, it all scales. @ 741 ilvl, I have to mind how much I pull/WHAT I pull at level 102.

People sure are grasping at straws to have SOMETHING to complain about.

The point was that you can do the zones in any order. You don't have to do all the quests in every zone. You can easily skip a whole bunch of quests, you just need to complete the main storyline of each zone.

That was never the point, no. The point was that you had more choice in what path you followed to 110. To me it seems absolutely logical that you'd need to do all leveling zones of an expansion to hit cap (although they probably went a tad too far).

So... you leveled to 110.. 1 day after the game was released... and are complaining about it being too.. grindy..

Story heavy, interactive quests that guarantee you get to 110 is literally the opposite of grindy. There really is no pleasing people

Well you know, WoD gear is good till about that level. I could be wrong, ofc, just saying that , again, in my opinion, not trying to offend you, sir, if your gear doesn't change but the mobs get harder to kill it doesn't really matter if they scale in level or not, you're still gonna have a harder time killing them.

Yup. There is literally no pleasing people like this.

OP is just bored of the game, maybe time to move on if you're looking for all the little things just to complain about.

Hmm, worst leveling experience? It is actually challenging, compared to WoD.

And even so, if you have rushed, that means you have cut yourself off from a lot of the leveling experience.

Since you need to finish every zone to get flight, just look at it as Blizzard doing you a favour down the line, plus most of the time at the start of expansions they make you do like 80% of the quests just to level. Unless you pvp or do dungeons.

  12. #12
You don't need to complete every single quest in a zone for 110. Main story and dungeons quests is enough. You are gonna have to do the story either way for loremaster and world quests. Don't get the hate towards the story lines they were all pretty good. Dinging 110 after doing the last dungeon quest for the last zone is good. You shouldn't have to grind other zones out at max level. This thread just seems like pointless complaining.

Make sure you level up as fast as humanly possible to 110 so you get to be bored again standing in your order hall for months on end.

I see what you did there...?

Indeed. Seems to be A LOT of thinly veiled "It can't be good because it ain't Classic no matter how good it is!!!!!!"-whining going around as well.

You get to experience all the zones, quests, and dungeons on your way through leveling? Sounds like a perfect leveling experience.

Anyone standing in the Order hall for months on end, must not want to progress their character either way... The Order hall is NOT the Garrison, you'll be punished and lag behind if you stay in it.

I'm sure we'll have those complaints though. We had the same complaints for MoP dailies/ToT/5.1/5.4, the same whining over the Argent Crusade patch in WOTLk and the same bitching in regards to Cataclysm's Firelands patch...

    To answer the OPs question.

    No

I only really have one complaint so far and it's about the Stormheim grappling bases taking so damn long to pull you over to them. Other than that it's still the same ol' leveling experience (just a little more dangerous than before) and good for what it is.

I guess you problem is not the quests - those and the storyline are really good. Problem is you play this game for some time right now I suppose and even if you didn't rush tru it ... you are already 110 and the game is only a few hours old. You simply overdid it.

Did you use handy notes or something like that? Did you ever stray away from the quest path?

I played my paladin for 2-3 hours or so yesterday and still are lvl 100. Why? I decided this time I would do the xpac different. No preread, no spoilers, no talentcalcs. Nothing. So I started the xpac and was dumb like in bc when I started playing. Also no help addons. I was swimming like 15 minutes between the ships to search for treasures. Or when I started in stormheim, I decided to run up the fucking hill just to see how it looks up there, trying to avoid all enemies and look around.

In a bonus zone I helped as tank some guys that had some problems with the dragons there. I just did what I did back then. Or in WOTLK, when I was like lvl 74 and decided to investigate icecrown... on my beloved hawkstrider.

I erased the "I need to be lvl 110" and tried to do whatever the fuck I want without setting myself under a lvl pressure. Enjoying the quests to the fullest and being a bit crazy. Like I did back in BC with my old guild. We were running around in blade's edge mountains, without any care in the world and the leveling took some time back then. So we joked, enjoyed the time together, did the quests together, tried going to places we shouldn't because the lvl was to low and no flying...

That's what I like about Legion and most of all the scaling. It dosent matter what lvl I have, I can do dungenons if I want and still wont outlvl the current map. Even at lvl 110 I can enjoy it.

The problem in WoW the past years is not everytime the game, it is also how much we set ourself under pressure to raise as fast as possible.

I still want the function back I liked so in BC, when the quests texts were coming row after row, not all at once like today (you could enable/disable that).Any addon out there that can do that?
