Alchemy - Flasks and ranks

Do you guys have any tips on how to efficiently level alchemy ?

I'm around 740 now and find it very very expensive to max it out. I'm picking up all herbs I find but Foxflowers are rare and 900g a piece on my server (Dalaran).

You need to know the recipe for the particular flask you are using for it to last 2 hours. Else, it's just 1h like everybody else. Rank does not matter.

There's no tip. Herb prices are crazy and will remain so, until more people start getting rank 3 recipes and providing more flasks and pots. Until then... not only skill ups are expensive, but your trainer will also steal 40 expensive pots at some point.

Just made 300 agi flasks - still no rank 3. It puts me on 1000 agi flasks total.

I'm done. Won't bother with alchemy anymore.

I have Enchanting and I think I'm done with it, doing to flip to Alchemy, regardless of the ranking RNG.

A lot of that is buying mats and selling the flasks...It's not necessarily a super-profitable business for most of us. I've made gold, yes, but that's selling flasks I had originally farmed for myself so I could try to make more flasks.

I'm on about 250 flasks myself. Just silly, really.

Ive gotten my rank 3 str flask few days ago and the difference between rank 2 and rank 3 is just dumb

If I could make Cauldrons at 780 I wouldn't be angry at the profession. They also claimed they would lock "cool" things behind the level 800 and I think Cauldrons rank more as a necessity.

its only useful in (n)hc anyways so w/e.

i procced rank 3 deadly grace early and made quite some gold with it. still no luck with flasks. think im gonna leave it for now and have my guild mates craft the flasks for me until herb prizes plummet (most lately in 7.1).

Farmed mats are not free!

You still have to count the cost on the AH when comparing profitability because you could have simply sold them instead of make the flasks.

damn 250 roses an hour? I need to learn your path or find a server that doesn't have so many farmers on it lol

Its so dumb. Rank 3 is super rare if and you get it you can completely corner the market because only those with rank 3 can make a profit with current herb prices.

Anyone made cauldrons yet? Can they be used multiple times by a single raid member? Meaning, can someone get a flask, use it, and then grab another for when the first wears off? Otherwise, they seem like a waste since they take 20 flasks to make and most raids have 15 people or fewer.

created a cauldron for 23 players so it was kind of worth it, still underwhelming.

They have 30 charges and work how you described. We run mythics so we have 20 raiders. We also raid 3 hours, which works out perfectly, since everyone needs 3 flasks, or 60 altogether, so 2 cauldrons work.

Plus I'm rolling in that rank 3 cauldron life ^.^

I didnt give up, made another 200 flasks (puts me at 1300 total flasks), rank 3 remains unseen.

It's really, really frustrating.

I got rank three stamina flask makin' an' rank three starlight rose pickin'. Still REALLY slow getting to 800.

I'm green at 793 but once I hit 800 I'll be able to make cauldrons which is nice I guess?

Down side of the high proc rate is that I single handedly drove the price of stamina flasks down to 800 gold from 2k due to all the ones I put up for auction. Took about 200 flasks to get rank three skill and reach 800 skill.

we can still dislike, if not, hate and despise the system currently in place.
regardless if we have any power to change it or not.

but by all means, enjoy your random random you got from your random, so now you can make random amounts of flasks and soon random amounts of cauldrons.

kind of makes you wonder if blizzard has an online casino license.
