People are quick to get hyperbolic using present events to argue how inconsequential he was. People forget the old adage: "you can't build a round house on a square foundation."

When World of Warcraft was FIRST being created, he was a source material for everything from story/characters/lore... to the very continent of azeroth itself.. LITERALLY.

The LFG documentary has a part where they talk about the initial development of the game. The art department was arguing and had all kinds of questions about the layout, and map and shit.. they started bugging Metzen with kinds of random questions, when suddenly he just pulled out a set of acrylic and painted.. fucking painted, free hand.. Azeroth on the wall. Like, this is where it is.. this is where it all takes place.

He helped build the foundation of the strongest MMO, and one of the strongest games OF ALL TIME. Regardless what he did recently.

People aren't arguing how inconsequential he was, but rather how he IS, nowadays. Metzen leaving now doesn't affect WoW slightly. Overwatch, 9n the other hand...

Well Metzen was there when they produced the 'story' for Warlords of Draenor so his judgement clearly isn't infallible. They'll be fine.

Srsly he is the Real creator of WARCRAFT. Without him this game will never be the same. He is the core part of whole game.

Ya, sorry but that's a bunch of bs. He isn't the SOLE writer of the lore and story, along with any decisions the way the game goes. They have a team of people who make these decisions. It will be fine.

Now if we're talking about if Warcraft as a franchise would be in the state it's in now, then it's possible we can say it wouldn't be.

Just think about it you sheeple! On whichever forum you go there are always several threads describing how WoW is doomed. This has become a core part of the community and without it everything will fall apart. It might just be inconsequential people making bullshit claims but you never know.
