How do you like Feral compared to previous expansions?

So the title pretty much expresses the question on my mind.

How do you like the Feral druid class since Legion has launched? Please note, I am not talking about numbers, or tuning in any way, but the playstyle. How do you like the new affinities in replacement of the original hybrid aspect? How do you fare without cyclone in PvP? Is the rotation, and animation cool and fun?

    My thoughts:

Personally, I am very much loving the new forms, but I dislike the removal of the hybrid aspect, and cyclone for PvP.

Share your thoughts! I would love to dust off my old feral, but I need some of your thoughts as well

    Best regards

    IAMANIKOLAS

I like it, except for Savage Roar. The new forms are superb and animations are stunning.

However, with Savage Roar/Lunar Inspiration/Jagged Wounds/Bloodtalons I feel like I'm fighting a fight within the fight: against my keyboard.

this!!!! the hardest part of my night of a 7/7 clear was managing my rotation. all it takes is you to soak something or have some sort of downtime from the boss and boom, rotation shagged till you can ramp up again. it's a tad frustrating when nearly all other classes can pickup dps almost instantly.

i also don't like the removal of cyclone

Haven't this always been the case? I remember back in WotLK I had to keep up Rip, Mangle (12s duration back then), Rake and SR if I remember correctly.

Another question: Isn't the class really tunnel-visiony in PvP? I haven't leveled my Feral (yet) but it seems that in PvP all you do is spam your PvE rotation with the eventual heals here and there, since you no longer have a reason to go into Human form, or even bearform..

I was going randoms with friends and old guildies, we don't have much going on and mentioned we should keep that group together for mystics. 2 of us main healers and pretty much only heals. I'd mentioned that could give feral a shot, with guardian affinity, so I can shift if needed.

While question as resto, i died a total of 0 times when soloing (that didn't involve falling), as feral I have died like 12 times. Now, I'm not that great as melee to begin with, but i was thinking of leveling a new druid just to learn how to feral. Looks like so much going on that even if i tunneled, i'd not get it right.

Feral is pretty much an improved version over what it was before (in WoD anyways), except for SR quality of life glyph ;( rip. I liked the mop snapshot heavy playstyle more though

yeah, but it still felt quicker and more fluid... even so you could quite commonly through in some FBs!

feral is far from tunnel in pvp... you need to keep some much spread pressure with moonfire and bleeds.!

Feral playstyle is very satisfying and fluid once you get it right (pool energie and dont spam rake). If you dont want to min/max the spec you can take a few passive talents and dont loose out a ton of dmg.
I peronaly don't think that movement hurts ferals at all. Out of all melee classes who misses AA on the boss during hard movements our bleeds deal the majority of our dmg and they tick wether or not we are at the boss. Plus moonfire is nice to dump energie during these phases. (It doesn't benefit from blood talons so dont wory overwriting it to much)

Instant battle rezz nowadays even without praditors swiftness is awesome and adds to the fluent gameplay.

Since mop however we lost most of our hybrid possibilities and the affinities don't add anything special here. Leaving your form for a heal is never worth it so you mostly take the affinities for their passive. And no, moonkin dps is at ilvl 840 around 26k compared to your 175k dps in cat form and tanking as bear adds a lot of stress to the healers as an auto attack from bosses hits you for 40is % of your max hp.
I still would give your feral a shot since it is so unique amongst the meeles. You will just have to test if that playstyle fits yours.
(Dmg and scaling are insane btw dont worry about viability in raids/pvp)

heh, you must have not played in Wrath then, because I seem to remember up to 70% of the time was spent 'waiting' (pooling) back then, even in full BIS.

Compare that to what, 30% now? The spec is a lot faster now than it was, harder to play than cata/mop/wod feral but not on the level of wrath feral....im loving it so far.

Would've got a 90th or so feral rank on ursoc heroic if the RL had been logging.

I have to agree with the other guy, feral felt more fluid in Wotlk.

That said, the spec feels okay, I still hate bloodtalons. i've hated that mechanic ever since they introduced it. the idea of healing to increase my damage feels counter intuitive (i know its just one button, it just feels yucky).

Outside of the horrible bloodtalons still being there, its fine.

Tried raiding with the Lunar Inspiration > Razor > SR > talon. Never again.
You have to keep up 6(?!!) fucking dots all within a what, 15s timer? Thats a refresh every 2s to keep up a proper rotation.
Good luck with that while swapping targets all the time as 5/7 are add fights.
But the main problem is your energy is insufficient to pull so many refreshes.

I did and if you don't believe, just spin up/join a wotlk private server and test it out... you'll find it is quicker even though we have more timers to worry about. there was no pooling as from memory i dont even think FB had the damage increase from the > 50 energy... but if it did, it was the only thing worth pooling as you could dump with FB back then. I don't think there was pandemic either, so you could refresh early if you wanted to clip, but if your TF was up, you could drop a FB and then rip with < 3 secs.

either way, i don't enjoy the current rotation with moonfire and healing touch. I'm still very new to feral as literally the last raid i did was the first tier of cata!

I like everything about Feral except Savage Roar, and if you want max damage in most cases you still have to take it. I just hate that type of spell in general, just like the old Crusade buff for paladin, Rogue SnD or the new Symbols of Death (though it one doesn't require any build up to activate which is great). Basically any buff that you need to set up to do your "real damage".

The new forms are so nice looking though that I might just have to play it anyway.

Absolutely in love with the new forms, nothing negative to say about them.

Gameplay-wise: Better than WoD, worse than WotLK, but damn fun regardless.
