Are monk just op?

Hi everyone.

So is monk just really OP? Im talking about WW monk. they got INSANE burst, and they can keep the dmg aswell. so they are always in the top of the meter in no sec.

your thoughts?

They have initial burst but the long cooldowns ends up leveling out.


They are no different from Combat Rogues and Havoc Demon Hunters. They Fill the same role in a group.



In a raid setting when fights are allowed to last longer than 40 seconds Monks fall off to an upper middle level in the DPS ladder.

Pretty much a monk's rotation looks like this.

Touch of Death (8sec debuff, 2min CD), Artifact Ability(40sec CD), Rising Sun Kick(8sec CD) and then Fists of Fury(20sec CD iirc).


This can be bolstered a little with talents but that's it. After they blow those 4 abilities they do a lot of sitting and waiting for CDs just filling with tiger palm and blackout kick.


It is bursty but it levels out over the course of a fight

Yeah a lot of classes can burst 600k dps on a heroic dungeon boss, that doesn't mean we are OP. WW monks are probably one of the most balanced specs right now.

"OP" is really just a personal opinion of a class and not something that can truly be objectively discussed. People who really like monks will say yes and people who don't will say no.
