    What was in the update?

    Yeah a rootkit,.
Apparently capcom installed some DRM in the update to try and make life harder on cheaters,. but in doing so installed a massive backdoor that was left WIDE OPEN.
Not a good move on their part,.
Will this kind of violation of a user's system ever be forgiven?
Why aren't things like this regulated or at least penalized?

They , but for those who already updated the rootkit is still there, you'll have to restart your PC and manually remove it if you have it, Capcom can't patch it out themself without asking for admin rights again.
The level of incompetence of Capcom is astonishing, both Sony and Blizzard have been dragged to court because of shit like this before, i will not be surprised if the same happens with Capcom now, class action lawsuit might very well happen.

There got to be a ton of people who have no idea that this malware is on their computer now, or don't even know the danger of it.

I semi-defended SFV since launch, but holy shit i can't defend them anymore after this.

They should just refund all 5% of the player base who own the game on PC and get rid of the version. It has been nothing but trash support from them anyways and is treated like a red headed step child with lack of stick support and them constantly being like "lol noobs play the PS4 version it's the one all the tournaments are on" at any CPT event. Hell they don't even allow their online ranking tournaments to be played on the PC version. Like why the hell does it even exist again? Just to troll the small % of people who bought it?

For the same reason Street Fighter IV 3DS edition exists.

    Uh...you know. Reasons.
At least it seems like they fixed it quickly, but it really does just scream out that they're not even putting a reasonable effort into the PC version.

Their officially licensed sticks for SFV don't even work in the PC version without modding it. Only thing supported native is old ass 360 sticks. It's that bad.

That sounds like a bad joke, since at least all the fight sticks my friend has plug right into the console's USB slot anyway...

Yea it just comes down to the game only recognizes X Input controllers and not direct input(which any Sony stick is, and it's a Sony console exclusive game...) You can ofcourse put X360CE into the game files to emulate X Input but it's still not 100% accurate and causes minor dead zones on the stick.

Pretty much any games that come out these days recognize both X and Direct input controllers, but a game which has officially licensed Direct Input sticks doesn't support Direct Input native. Capcom seriously has to be trolling the PC version. It's the only logical explanation.

Because there's plenty of people who cba to buy a console,. and are still a fan of the game?
If it exists, no reason to remove it and just piss more people off.

But mind, that's not the whole idea behind this thread.

IF you have the PC version, and IF you got auto updates enabled,. you may want to check whether you need to remove this rootkit stuff somehow.

The point is, with the half assed effort(actually that's too kind, no assed effort more like it) it should have never existed in the first place. If you're going to release it on PC do it right or don't do it at all. Capcom literally trolls PC players at every tournament did you even watch EGX this morning? It's more of a situation like "lol you guys where really dumb enough to buy this shit version of our game we ban in competitive play and barely works?"

All to stop people from getting recolors of DLC skins.

    Was it worth it capcom

Pretty sure they where more worried about getting free, stupid amounts of FM by being able to complete every survival difficulty in 1 fight, as well as changing the trials to be complete in 1 hit for the same result. Literally 800k in free fight money for doing nothing. Had jack shit to do with colors. Again, their fault though for having a flawed system in the first place that didn't prevent this and lol @ "the fix".
