How is Shaman Healing in Legion?

    HI!

I am considering rolling a healer for Legion and I was wondering, what is shaman healing like? I ask here because I rather get responses from people rather than just looking at logs.

How do you feel you compare in raids or mythics/Mythics+?

    Thanks!

Shaman healing is great and you will probably have a lot of fun =)

They are great at group healing and has many cooldowns to choose from for the situation you are in. They come with a lot of different and utilities and you will most likely find yourself at the top of the healing meters in raids.
5-man dungeons on the other hand can be quite difficult on mythic+, but it will get easier when you learn the class a little better.

    Cool things about resto:
    - Chain Heal, whats not to like!
    - Watching your totems spread green numbers all over the screen
    - Healing Rain is so buff right now!
    - Your mastery is fantastic and heals for huge amounts when people are low
    - Great mobility

Tbh I really dig this class and how it is working in this expansion, so just jump in!
But remember to read some guides, to get a better understanding of your class. Chainheal.com is an example.

As far as healer viability goes, the numbers can speak for themselves: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/statistics/10#metric=hps

All the healers are fairly well balanced just from a pure numbers PoV, minus Disc obviously.

For gameplay, Shaman is my favorite overall. Feels about as versatile as a holy priest in the kind of the damage patterns you can easily respond to. You have tons of viable talent options that meaningfully change your kit. You have plenty of CDs (2-4) and you're not overly complicated or too simplistic to play. You also don't OOM as fast as Druids, which is nice.

All the healers are generally pretty great, though. If you already have a healer, there's not much reason to reroll. Balance has probably never been better than right now.

Most current guides are inaccurate on talent selections. For example, chainheal.com suggests to avoid Undulation and Bottomless Depths, when in fact those are generally the best overall talents.

Tbh I'm not sure if there is a decent one publicly posted.

Torrent and CBT are by far the most selected talents across all fights.

I really would love to not have to explain why an all-star ranking on mythic is heavily skewed at the moment, and also would love to not explain why HPS is a highly irrelevant factor in determining proper healing in raids. I also would love to not need to explain how poor some of those resto shaman's damage parses were, wasting GCDs on healing when nothing was really happening. It's just too much to argue about.

    Maybe tomorrow.

Resto Shamans have the same weakness we have always had, we can't heal people when they are really spread out. However I still really enjoy healing as a shammy and would not play anything else.

Shaman healing is great, effective and very efficient but pretty bland and boring.
