Ranged alts

I need to start gearing an alternative for my Mythic raiding guild. I almost exclusively play melee, but we already have so many that there wouldn't be much use for another.

I was originally going to level a warlock, but after talking to the locks in guild, I learned that they need to maintain 2 artifacts, which will be difficult for an alt.

What ranged specs have you all found useful for high end raiding and that won't require a lot of focus on off specs?

MM hunter.

Hunter.. you can either maintain a BM (Used for M+ primarily) artifact or a MM (Used for Raiding Primarily) artifact.

And on an alt, I would simply maintain one of the two. You're good as either spec for both.

Ignore survival isn't not really a spec.

Also, it's the most friendly for people moving from melee to ranged.

As somebody has played melee for 99% of this game (tank and dps) switching to Hunter has been pretty good ... MM i still have a little issue with because of cast times, but I'm getting used to it slowly.
