That is not entirely correct: at most we can say it drifts to 2 parties in each electoral district. What can then happen is that you get regional parties - like SNP in Scotland.
Additionally it is known that there is no perfect democratic system - as proven by Arrow.
That doesn't make the US system better - and it could still be that another system is better.
However, the video totally misses the obvious: each US state maximizes their influence by going for a "winner takes all" - and they are the ones in charge.
Similarly the voters in each state maximize their influence by stopping others from voting under the current system - since the electoral votes are based on total population - including felons (and not even counting them as 60% like slaves).
The states deciding on their electoral votes will naturally cause each state to be a "winner takes all" . The voters might get a single transferable vote - but it will still be a "winner takes all" state.
