Sweden: Sex crimes increased from 1.0 to 1.7% in a year

More women report that they are subjected to any type of sexual offenses. Exposure to abuse of women is however relatively steady over time. Overall reduce vulnerability to abuse, but mainly among young men. It shows a partial report of the National Crime Survey (NTU), the National Crime Prevention Council (BRA) publishes today.

Note: This is not about reported cases, this is a survey of victimization
This is the reporting percent so people will shut up about it being because of increase in reports:
    2005 11%
    2006 17%
    2007 14%
    2008 19%
    2009 12%
    2010 23%
    2011 19 %
    2012 10 %
    2013 12%
    2014 8%
    2015 9%

As you can see it's 9% who report sex crime, less than before yet we see a huge increase in sex crimes in Sweden.

In 2015, subjected 1.7 percent (about 129,000 people) for any type of sexual offenses. This is an increase compared to 2014 when 1.0 percent said they had been subjected. Significantly more women than men were subjected to sexual crimes last year: 3.0 percent of women, compared with 0.4 percent of men.

Exposure to sexual crimes among women has remained at a relatively stable level of 2005-2012, but the last three years, it has increased. For men, the proportion of victims remained at about the same level throughout the period 2005-2015. Most victims of sexual crimes are younger women, aged 16-24; of them stated 9 percent said they were subjected during 2015.

    - The question posed on sexual crimes in NTU includes a wide range of crimes. It can range from minor events blotting and groping, to very serious incidents of rape. Those who say they suffered must therefore answer questions about the severity of the crime. The responses show that in 29 percent of cases been the issue of a more serious form of sexual crimes, says Emelie Hambrook, investigator at the National Council.

    Exposure to abuse decreases
Vulnerability to abuse (men and women combined) has fallen from 2.7 percent in 2005 to 2.0 percent in 2015. Most at risk are young men aged 16-24 years: of them stated 5 percent said they were subjected during 2015. Overall, the men's vulnerability to abuse, however, decreased by 1.2 percentage points between 2005 and 2015, while the vulnerability of women has remained relatively unchanged, which means that the difference in exposure between the sexes has decreased gradually.

    - Assault offenses differ between men and women. Men are exposed more often by someone they do not know and in a public place. Women are often in a residence, their own or someone else, and someone they know or are familiar with, says Thomas Hvitfeldt, investigator at the National Council.

About the National Crime Survey (NTU)
NTU is based on interviews with some 12 000 people aged 16-79 years, conducted annually by the National Council since 2006. This year presented NTU for the eleventh time in a row. The survey measures the public's insecurity and worries about crime, victimization and the confidence and experience of the justice system. The results of the survey as a whole will be published in January 2017.

They might have changed their reporting method, often spikes like that are not due to actual increases, but differences in classification.
