Thread: Guarm Leap

    Guarm Leap

The dungeon journal claims that Guarm's leap targets the largest clump of players, but our group has been having trouble getting it to consistently target the melee group.

Our raid was only 14 players this week. We have 3 melee stacked up behind the boss, and the ranged spread out in front of the boss (25 yards away, at least 5 yards apart). There were many leaps that only hit a single ranged, ignoring the melee that are stacked up.

Does anyone have any tips on how to make this more consistent? Do we just need some ranged to move into melee just before the leap? At this point i'm not even convinced that it's working correctly.

As far as Im aware the 5 yards apart is for the licks not the leap.
So your range must be standing way too close to each other.

    Logs would help.

We were having this trouble last night as well

Our raid was incredibly melee heavy, well outnumbering the ranged and heals, and he was STILL pouncing on top of a couple ranged after every few leaps.

Felt like it was just randomly targeted to us, we stacked very tight in melee with ranged well spread and he'd still leap on ranged or tanks.

Ours was overly so - two Spriests, an ele sham and 3 healers vs two tanks, a DK, an enh shaman, a surv hunter, a DH, a warrior, a rogue and a feral

All that melee gapclosing onto the boss right after the knockback and he would STILL jump onto the ranged

We're the same way. Ranged are hard to find these days.

Our hunter wants to play Surv. We're not doing Mythic yet, he more than pulls his weight with DPS and we don't normally have a range/melee imbalance. He can play whatever the fuck he wants.

Honestly, I couldn't even tell if there was logic to his leap, but it wasn't at all threatening to the raid.

Hell, the only mechanics that seem deadly are when he tramples back and forth, besides the obvious boss hitting people, the aoe pulse he does is pretty legit. That and if tanks move weird, and melee accidentally share the cleave damage.

Besides that, nothing in that fight seems like it's going to kill anyone.

The way we fixed this was to have the melee clump wait after the knockback for the leap rather than run back in immediately and Guarm would typically leap to them that way. I think it's the largest clump a minimum distance away, so gapclosing will cause your melee to be too close to Guarm.

We just killed guam a few minutes ago. Tbh we had no problems with this mechanic probly because we have enough melee dps. DANGER Maybe u should try to get some range or heal in melee range.[THIS MIGHT BE A BAD IDEA, SEE NEXT POST DANGER Also make sure they stick onto each other so they ALL get knocked in one direction. But be aware of the front attack while in melee range ! Gl and HF !

Range and healers in melee range is a terrible idea due to the AOE debuffs that go out on those players. There's a reason the boss isn't just "stack everyone in 1 spot for AOE healing".
