    Alright so lemme get this straight. They turn something off to fix a bug with it. Then turn it back on and it's still bugged to shit. That's kind of hilarious. Makes you wonder why they even bothered with a beta for the game.

    Turkey weekend is over and done so it's back to sorting out some gameplay issues, this week's hotfix is a bit of a biggie.

    RIFT 4.0: Hotfix #4 12/1/2016

    GENERAL

    * Level boosters will now always put you in the level channel most appropriate to your newly boosted level.
    * Starfall Prophecy notoriety rewards are no longer giftable.
    * Updated ability cooldown display times to correct incorrect cooldowns in Addons.


    RIFT STORE & SERVICES

    * Those who purchased a Nightmare Thresher over the weekend should now have them delivered to their in game mailbox on all characters on their account.
    * The Heroic Prophecy Pack no longer grants a Large Artifact Bundle.
    * Your Celestial Remnants and Challengers Marks are now displayed when viewing accessories in the Rift Store.


    COMBAT LOG IMPROVEMENTS

    * Added a new slash command: /combatlogexpanded to enable the new combat log features. If you do not want to use them you can still use /combatlog
    * Elaborated on combat log lines.
    * All times are now in the form of mm-dd-yy:hh:mm:mms.
    * When initiating combat, the combat log now shows the buffs and debuffs of all of your party members.


    SOULS

    * Fixed a bug where a character could get more than five legendary abilities. In the case that a character does have more than five legendary abilities they will experience a soul reset.


    CLERIC

    CABALIST

    * Legendary Shadow's Touch now affects your next 3 abilities.

    DEFILER

    * Legendary Aggressive Avarice healing reduced by 50% in PVP.

    DRUID

    * Legendary Fervent Strike now lasts 30 seconds.
    * Legendary Fae Mimicry now affects 7 abilities and causes 125% of damage as life damage. Causes your next 2 cleric abilities to not trigger cooldowns.

    INQUISITOR

    * Legendary Bolt of Judgment proc chance increased drastically.

    ORACLE

    * Legendary Insignia of Blood proc chance increased drastically.

    SHAMAN

    * Legendary Crushing Blow cooldown reduced to 12 seconds.
    * Legendary Icy Blow now affects both Water and Air damage. Damage bonus increased to 15% per stack.
    * Legendary Furious Assault now passively causes Glacial Strike to deal an additional 45% of its damage over 3 seconds. Air and Water damage increased by 30%.

    WARDEN

    * Legendary Waterjet snare increased to 30%. Now also passively reduces damage taken by 3%.
    - Note: Tooltip incorrect, to be corrected in a future hotfix.

    PURIFIER

    * Legendary Flame Lance now increases healing by 15%.
    - Note: Tooltip incorrect, to be corrected in a future hotfix.

    SENTINEL

    * Legendary Bolt of Light now increases healing by 15%.
    - Note: Tooltip incorrect, to be corrected in a future hotfix.


    MAGE

    DOMINATOR

    * Legendary Neural Prod now increases the damage of the next 3 abilities by 30%.
    * Legendary Neural Prod's debuff description now correctly matches the ability tooltip.

    ELEMENTALIST

    * Prismatic Armor and Cycle of Fire now correctly stack their Global Cooldown adjustments.

    FROSTKEEPER

    * Earthen Renewal now correctly consumes Cold Snap stacks if it was already instant when Cold Snap was cast.

    HARBINGER

    * Legendary Storm Slash no longer consumes charge twice while Charged Blade is active.
    * Legendary Storm Slash now affects the next 3 abilities.
    * Legendary Piercing Beam now increases damage and healing by 20% and lasts 30s.
    * Legendary Empyrean Ascension also passively causes slashing attacks to deal 50% more damage and spells with cast times to deal 30% more damage.
    * Legendary Vengeful Shock damage increased by roughly 150%. Tooltip clarified to show it always strikes twice.
    * Charged Blade damage bonus increased to 30% for slashing and 10% for all other abilities.

    NECROMANCER


    * Legendary Plague Bolt now casts 20% faster and deals 20% more damage for each stack of Plague Carrier.
    * Legendary Grave Rot no longer stacks with other slows.

    PYROMANCER

    * Legendary Flame Bolt now affects the next 3 abilities.
    * Legendary Fire Storm now lasts 30 seconds.
    * Legendary Fusillade now also passively causes Flame Bolt and Searing Bolt to reset the cooldown of Cinder Burst and reduce the cast time of your next Cinder Burst by 3 seconds and cause it to deal 50% more damage.
    * Cinder Burst now deals 30% more damage to targets afflicted by the damage over time effect from Fireball.
    * Fireball now deals 75% of its base damage over 5 seconds when both Heat Wave and Fusillade are on cooldown. This effect doesn't stack.

    WARLOCK


    * Legendary Neddra's Grasp now correctly applies Lingering Torment.
    * Radiate Death and Healing Expertise now spread the correct versions of Life Leech and Neddra's Grasp.
    * Legendary Void Barrage now also passively increases the damage of all damage over time effects by 100%.


    PRIMALIST

    MAELSTROM

    * Legendary Effervescent Blast now has a 4 second cooldown.
    * Legendary Scald now lasts 25s.

    VULCANIST

    * Legendary Molten Wave duration reduced to 6s. PASS

    TYPHOON

    * Now correctly shows both legendary and non legendary versions.


    ROGUE

    RANGER

    * Legendary Animalism now lasts 10 seconds and has a 60 second cooldown.

    SHADEBORN

    * Legendary Strangulate is now correctly tagged as a debilitate and can be broken free from.

    TACTICIAN


    * Legendary Curative engine buff tooltip now correctly matches the ability tooltip.


    WARRIOR

    BEASTMASTER

    * Cunning Ruse now correctly only removes your damage over time effects.

    CHAMPION

    * Legendary Bull Rush now correctly triggers diminishing returns.

    LIBERATOR

    * Legendary Liberation Treatment now lasts 30s.

    PALADIN

    * Legendary Retaliation can now only trigger once every 2 seconds per target.

    REAVER

    * Legendary Shadow of Dread now passively reduces Reaver Damage over Time damage by 25%.
    * Plague Bringer now increases target cap by 2 (down from 7).
    * Explosive Infestation now have a base number of targets of 2 (5 when talented).
    * Rancid Cleave, and Desecrating Blow now have a base number of targets of 3 and are no longer affected by Deadly Reach.
    * Legendary Dire Corruption damage reduced by roughly 22%.
    * Legendary Viral Stream damage reduced by roughly 30%. Tooltip should now correctly reflect expected damage again.

    VOIDKNIGHT


    * Reckless Strike will no longer sometimes proc twice in rapid succession. It also no longer has stacks to remove a case where stacks would be consumed too fast, preventing some procs. Damage reduced to compensate.

    WARLORD

    * Tactical Advance no longer effects Legendary Sergeant's Order.
    * Sergeant's Order no longer incorrectly benefits all warriors. Now only benefits the caster.


    INSTANT ADVENTURE

    * Instant Adventure: Instant adventure participants are now correctly mentored to the correct level when they move to new adventure zones.
    * When a player queues for an instant adventure, they will queue up for instant adventures on shard on which they are playing currently.


    ZONES AND EVENTS


    * Shal Korva notoriety Decrees have been added to the possible rewards from the quests "A Reputation for Adventure" and "Seas of Plunder".
    * The Nightmare Saga: The quest By the Sword no longer requires players to participate in Conquest.

    ALITTU

    * Added a small selection of books to the Alittu library. They will randomly appear as people read them.*

    GEDLO BADLANDS

    * Quest: Of Devils and Prophecy – Fixed an issue where if players were grouped, only one player could loot the first Prophecy of Ananke.
    * Quest: Draconian Solution – Fixed an edge case where a player would be unable to use the Dragon Nest. Also fixed the map locator for this objective.
    * The Battle of Saint Taranis and Echo of the Battle of Saint Taranis – Gedlo goblins in Saint Taranis now despawn after the kill objective is complete.
    * Zone Event: Horrific Horticulture – Bee Beard will now spawn correctly at the end of the event.

    ASHENFALL

    * Quest: King’s Fall and Echo of King’s Fall – Fixed NPCs from incorrectly dropping items reserved for planar NPCs.

    SCATHERRAN FOREST

    * Quest: Tuath’de Blades: The onslaught will no longer spawn invasions along the road to Critter Glen.
    * The Whipvine Lasher no longer has an incorrect title.
    * Quest: Kick the Barrel: Fixed an issue where barrels could be used multiple times before despawning.
    * Quest: Into the Wyredode – Fixed a scripting issue where Leofwine would play his VO multiple times if multiple players talked to him one after another.

    XARTH MIRE

    * Onslaught: The Marsh Gate – This quest now has a map indicator for the Marsh Gate onslaught. Additionally, invasions should now give credit every time instead of only in certain parts of the scene.


    DUNGEONS AND RAIDS

    INTREPID DARKENING DEEPS

    * Fixed a bug where LFP rewards were not always being paid out.

    TEMPLE OF ANANKE

    *Life Shards for the last boss fight in Temple of Ananke are set to roughly 6 million for expert, and 1.5 million for standard.
    *Fixed a bug where Life shards stopped spawning after Maelderoth reaches max stacks of Burning Corruption
    *Life shards no longer give a reactive and instead remove 2 stacks of Burning Corruption from Maelderoth when destroyed as long as he is within 30m of it
    Maelderoth can no longer be accidentally killed, and Ananke cannot be harmed until phase 3

    PVP AND WARFRONTS

    * Rogues in stealth leaving the Warfront spawn areas should no longer be knocked out of stealth.
    * Destruction Synergy Crystal now has the proper 2 piece and 4 piece set bonus values.
    * Increased favor slightly for killing level 66 to 70 players.
    * Fixed an issue where Starfall Prophecy PVP quests were not awarding the proper amount of favor.


    DIMENSIONS

    * Some Dimension Items from achievements were incorrectly flagged as Unbound are now once again Soulbound.
    * Additional Dimension Items have been added to Stan's Super Secret Lure.


    CRAFTING

    * All crafted gear has been increased in power-- this time for real!
    * The title for the achievement "Exalted Angler" has been corrected.
    * Visionary crafting daily quests now auto-turn in when completed.
    * Many Starfall Prophecy recipes have had their Chondritic Dust material costs reduced or removed.
    * Planar foothold have a small chance to drop Chondritic Planar Dust.
    * Prophetic leg runes now apply the proper rune.


    DREAM WEAVER

    * Dust of the Void has been removed from many Dream Weaver recipes. Dream Ribbon costs have slightly increased to offset the difference.
    * Added the following Dream Weaver recipes to the Visionary Recipe Vendor: Recipe: "Giant Lava Dome" and "Recipe: Black Electric Egg".


    MINIONS

    * The minion card Opie is now an attractor minion that adds Artifact cards to the decks. These special Artifact missions can also reward Planar Pellets and (rarely) Lucky Coins!


    ITEMS

    * Starfall Adventure Cache now have a chance of containing Chondritic Planar Dust.
    * Fixed an issue with Starfall Adventure Caches that it would sometime give both a level 65 item and a level 66+ plus item depending on the level of the player.
    * Greatly increased item drop chance from Starfall Adventure Caches such as armor and weapons.
    * The vendor price of Scoria Fish and Scoria Fish livers has been reduced.
    * Cosmic Cores now stack to 999 and no longer have a resell value.
    * Consumable token boost potions now correctly state that they do not boost Tower Fragment or Celestial Remnant gains.
    * Consumable token boosts and patron token boosts now boost Tok Token gains.
    * Starfall Prophecy Weapon Runes now all correctly respect PVP damage reductions.
    * Starfall Prophecy Weapon Runes no longer fall off when you die.
    * Wardrobe: The appearance set “Ovog Ceremonial Garb” now appears in the Appearance Sets tab of the Character screen.
    * Mossclaw Defense, Thunderguard, Devouring Soul, Lava Stone, and Combustion Soul no longer contribute to the Comet of Destruction set.
    * Cowl of Prophecy now has mage stats.

    Updated patch notes to add that Temple of Ananke is open for business, not in the notes, Planar Assault Instant Adventures seem to be turned on again, at least in Europe, didn't do one yet.

    A few more tweaks to Souls, some safe guards added to quests and crashes caused by addons should be fixed, no mention of Tok's Proving Grounds Dungeon though, here's hotfix #5.

    * The Ascended Repulsor ability that blocks summoning abilities near spawn points no longer breaks stealth.

    * Fixed Prophetic Dexterity Serum to boost Dexterity instead of Armor.
    * Crafting cooldowns have been removed from Apothecary Vials.
    * Crafting daily quest recipes will once again properly skill up professions.


    ITEMS

    * Faetouched Powerstones now grant 2,000 Spell Power (was 1,000).
    *Visionary Weapon runes now properly trigger the Visionary tier of the proc.
    * Fixed an issue where planar fragments could give stats other than what they show.

    - Dead Simon tip: Great for Rat or Shiny hunting!
    - However, you still need to do the challenges to get the key to the chest at the top.
    - If you fall through the sky maze, you can use this to bypass the traps, so long as long as you've done them prior to falling.
    * Added a new Race quest to allow players to earn a little more Notoriety per day.
    * The Shiny chest has been fixed. All the puzzles now grant a one time bonus of Notoriety as compensation.
    * The Shield abilities are no longer timed.
    * Made improvements to Shield reliability.
    - Note: This may be a lag issue of sorts. While the fix was tested on a simulated high-lag server, it cannot catch all things. Be sure to report on the forums in case you experience further trouble!
    * The Boglings now behave more predictably with respect to how fast they start to interfere with the Sudoku table.
    * Boglings now do not Fail Boglings Denied quest if you've completed the quest but haven't yet turned it in.
    * You can no longer get trapped in the Glass maze anymore.
    * You can no longer cheat on the Math Test. A failing grade to those that did this!
    * Fixed an exploit with Notoriety.
    * The teleports on the Sky maze are now a little more forgiving, and the active indicator effects a little more lag tolerant.
    * Slightly increased the Rat spawn rate.
    *A bunch of other small bug fixes and tweaks!

    * Block has been removed from crafted Shields.
    * The Opie mount now removes the effects of Micro Brew upon use.


    CRAFTING


    * The materials for the Gedlo Curry Pot have been adjusted. The number of items produced has also been adjusted.

    Back to business with the first hotfix of the year, still waiting for PTS to open up the testing of the first boss in the new 10-man raid in Ashenfell called Tartaric Depths but meanwhile you can have fun mass recycling your planar fragments all at once.

    RIFT 4.0: Hotfix #8 1/11/2016

    SLASH COMMANDS

    * When using /target, if there are multiple things that match equally well, the command will pick the closest of them.
    * Added a new slash command, /recycleallplanarfragments. This will recycle all planar fragments in your planar fragment bag, any that you want to keep must be manually put in your inventory.
    * Expanded combat logging now has the proper amount of digits in milliseconds.

    *Also, Shadi Pinkoo has some very valuable items for sale if you have enough Tok Tokens. But be warned, Shadi is a bit of a scalper, so I would go to him as a very last resort if I were you...

    Dailies. Shit ones at that.
    3 "expert" dungeons which require no effort, barely any dps or healing and 1 is just an upscale.
    PvP which is in a dire state.
    Instanced Rifts for your RNG fragments that have shittier RNG than Legion.

    Cracking Xarth's Skull is ready for prime time! Our NEW Fortress Siege zone event is LIVE!

    A sole warrior may wish to face challenges around the exterior walls of the fortress, picking off less protected foes, a vital task to support those further in.
    Further feats of valor are within the grasp of a group of Ascended, as they penetrate deeper into the concentric rings of fortifications, facing lieutenants with their squadrons.
    With enough skilled veterans on hand, it may even be possible to wrest control of powerful siege weaponry to blast down the inner gates themselves!
    Listen for the call to battle that will sound at times of direst need. This signals a far more intense and challenging fight!

    It is estimated that the Fortress Siege zone event will initiate every four hours. If the Ascended are successful in beating it, a raid will then open, via the new Looking for Raid system!


    LOOKING FOR RAID


    We're serving up this Siege with another brand new feature, Looking for Raid. LFR is bound to control + i by default; similar to the LFG keyboard default of i.

    LFR ties in with our new Individual Loot system, so that you no longer have to compete with others for coveted drops for your build. This game feature, at its core, is a priority-based queue system based on raid karma. Like LFG, LFR will respect your ignore list.

    What is raid karma? Raid karma is a value that lives on each character that is constantly reduced over time. The more LFR raids you successfully complete, the higher your raid karma will be. This will result in having a higher priority over other players when queuing for LFR.

    How do you gain raid karma? After the raid ends, all players anonymously vote on their fellow raid members, which results in positive or negative change for raid karma. Voting is entirely optional! Being vote kicked or leaving the raid early also effects raid karma, to address players who bail out early or affect other raid members so adversely that they get kicked out. The end goal is a much more positive experience for everyone.

    When you queue for LFR you can select whether to queue as a leader or not, if you select this, the system will try to put you as the leader of a group of people without anyone who selected to queue as a leader. If it cannot find another group that doesn't have a leader within a certain period of time it will pick one of the group members to become the leader.
    Raid bosses are locked behind a "ready check" that the leader can either initiate or skip.
    If initiated, the ready check needs to pass before the encounter. You can see who is playing what role, and also select a recommended preset if you do not have the correct spec for a fight.


    The LFR will note if the players in the queue have a role combination that makes it impossible to complete. For example, if a boss in the raid requires two tanks, but you have three people queuing as tank only, there is no way you can meet the required roles. Therefore, it will not let you queue unless the roles are adjusted.

    Another way the matchmaking is different from LFG is that LFR has a specific set of roles that must be met on a per-boss basis, as opposed to LFG which just always requires a static set of roles. LFR checks your raid composition against every boss' role requirements, so if one boss in the raid requires a certain composition and the next boss requires a different one, and so on, it will ensure that the people it forms your raid with will always be able to meet some sort of valid role distribution for every boss in that raid.

    When you enter LFR, you might notice a few differences as a group made through LFR is very different internally than one made through other means. First of all, you cannot change raid leaders while inside or invite people - you can only add new members through the LFR system. If you walk into the portal, you can invite as normal and none of the designer scripting for LFR will be there.

    The raid leader is designated for the entire raid unless they leave or are vote kicked. It is the raid leader's responsibility to initiate the actual bosses themselves, as these encounters are locked until certain criteria is met. There is a NPC in front of every boss in LFR. The leader will talk to them and is offered two options: initiate a ready check, or skip the ready check and fight the boss. If you skip the ready check the boss simply activates and you can fight it. If you decide to do a ready check, a boss window opens which explains the boss mechanics and gives you the option to choose a preset of what you queued for, which will assign you a new toolbar and spec. It does not overwrite your old spec - you can switch back at any time. At the bottom of the window there is a ready button. When pressed, your name and role for that boss will appear to everyone else to show you are ready. Once the entire raid is ready, the boss will unlock. You only have to perform this once per boss.

    While you are at the boss, you can press control + i again to see the boss window and mechanics again. If you want to open the actual LFR window itself, you have to manually go to the toolbar and click on [Activities -> Looking For Raid].

    One of the new concepts of LFR is the idea of "temporary raids." This was designed specifically for the Fortress Siege, but is expandable for future use. In the case of the Fortress Siege, the zone event must be successfully completed to unlock LFR for the associated raid, for a limited amount of time. When this happens, a countdown timer appears in the LFR window. When the timer reaches zero, the raid will disappear from LFR. At this point in time anyone in the queue will be informed that they are removed from it, and players still inside the raid can continue on.

    == GAME UPDATE ==

    GENERAL

    * /recycleallplanarfragments will now ignore the auto-loot functionality to ensure that it is clear that you receive the proper amount of cores upon recycling.


    SOULS

    * Legendary Defend the Fallen now applies a 2 minute lockout preventing players from benefiting from the immunity to death.
    * Defend the Fallen now correctly applies Planar Exhaustion to all affected allies.

    So basically I was right. The Karma system is a somehow worse version of the commendation system FF14 has. Trion certainly have a trend of taking systems from other MMOs recently and somehow making them worse. I didn't even think you could do that to a commendation system and an RNG loot system but well I've been proven wrong it seems.

    Fortress sieges kind of remind me of the Lightspire event in Wildstar.
    Which I loved. Though...I wouldnt say its good enough to brag or advertise as a major expansion feature.

    Karma system is freaking gross.

    They've temporarily disabled the Fortress Siege part of the Zone Event for at least a week as too many players were turning up and the mobs were scaling too high, we had the mini bosses hitting 2 Billion HP, yep, you read that right 2 Billion Health Points, timer would run out as most of that was spent trying to kill those 5 mini-bosses

    LFR has now been enabled 24/7 and the vendors that would normally spawn inside the Fortress when Event was completed are now in Camp Quagmire for easy access, all in Hotfix #10

    Wait...what? Did they not put any caps on mobs in terms of how high they can scale? I mean...they're disabling more content as soon as it's out with this expansion, which seems depressingly par for the course nowadays. You'd have figured they'd have tried to get some high population testing done on the PTS specifically for reasons like this...

    And what's the point of LFR now that there's still no raid, and the only other thing it was working with is disabled for at least a week?

    Everything about this expansion continues to strike me as insanely rushed, largely untested, and painfully lacking in polish. I was hoping they'd at least be able to do what other games have done and started turning things around with their post-launch patches, but it looks like they're just making the same mistakes all over again.

    Fuck this is depressing to watch unfold.

    It is depressing. Rift is essentially going down the toilet day after day. From what was such an amazing game too. This entire expansion is an actual insult to the MMO genre. Every time they release content recently it has to be disabled. Like I said I tell anyone who asks me to steer clear of it and go for the decent F2P/B2P alternatives these days. I can't in good conscience tell a friend to spend £30 on an expansion that has barely any content and not even quality or polished content at that.
