Account Suspensions For Non-Participation – Nov 23, 2016

We’ve just issued a new round of account suspensions and bans for players who regularly go AFK, refuse to participate, or intentionally and repeatedly die during their Heroes of the Storm matches.

Some of you may remember the announcement we made earlier this year to let you know that we had begun suspending players for these negative in-game behaviors. Since then, we’ve continued take careful action against the most extreme offenders every two weeks, and over time, have made improvements to our processes in order to catch more offending accounts with each round of suspensions and bans we issue.
Today’s action was targeted at those whose in-game performance data clearly indicates a consistent lack of contribution to the majority of their matches. In order further confirm which accounts should be suspended or banned, we also review the data behind every one of these accounts by hand, as well as examine the volume and types of in-game reports these players have received. Through this three-point verification process, we are able to take regular and confident action against players who are intentionally harming the in-game experience for others.

We will continue to refine and improve our processes going forward, and anticipate that the number of accounts suspended, or in cases of repeat offenders, banned, will further increase with future waves.

Going AFK, refusing to participate, and intentionally dying are behaviors that ruin the experience for everyone else in a match and undermine the spirit of competition that’s essential to Heroes of the Storm. Taking part in such actions will not be tolerated. We encourage you to use the relevant reporting options when you spot players doing these things in your games.

What's the point of going AFK during matches? Obviously this is for people that do it purposely and regularly.

Not working enough. Joined a game today that had a Cho'gal and a tracer who went AFK immediately. It was a beginner game against bots so I fail to see why as you can win in 4 minutes with no work. The game lasted for 25 minutes where I was finally able to solo the core as Hammer. The kicker was all 3 of those players were offline when we won so they wasted 25 minutes and got no credit. Serves them right. Out of the 4 people on the team, 2 were level 1 and 2 were level 7 so maybe they just had their accounts banned.
