can’t tell you how satisfying it is to finally be able to say that Ellie and Joel are back for another intense, harrowing, and emotional adventure. Like many of you, we have a deep love for the world of The Last of Us and its characters, and while a sequel may have seemed like a foregone conclusion, that wasn’t the case. We knew that it needed to be a story worth telling and, perhaps more importantly, a story worthy of Joel and Ellie. After spending years on different ideas (and almost giving up), we finally uncovered a story that felt special—a story that evolved into an epic journey.
It’s still early days for the project—the game’s release is a ways off—but we couldn’t wait any longer to give you a glimpse of what’s to come. We’re going to let the trailer (coming soon to this post) speak for itself, but expect more information about The Last of Us Part II in the coming months.

This is super early development, Its a 2019 release at best.

Ya it's not happening the same way Uncharted 4 didn't come out less the 3 years after The Last of Us right?

You're ignorant to the fact Naughty Dog is a company that can actually finish games in timely fashion. At max it is an early 2019 release which is just slightly over 2 years away.

You do realize they had two different teams working on Uncharted 4 and The last of Us right? That is why Uncharted 4 came out then 3 years after The Last of Us. NG is working as one team now on TLOUP2 and once again they have stated MANY times now its early Development and a way's off.

They are wanting to make that 100% clear and even stated it right before the trailer.

Seriously know what your talking about before speaking and take the hate boner somewhere else this isn't the thread for it.
