New Concept: "Sister Guilds" - bench without a bench

The higher-ups of a guild would approve a connection to another guild of the same faction, which would have to be approved/agreed upon by at least their GM. This would would open a new chat channel to both guilds and from that channel you could find casual raid pugs.

This idea stems mostly from the notion that a lot of guilds have friends in other guilds.

Yeah, I've been saying this for years. In addition to that, players should be allowed to join more than one guild if they would like to. It's more social. The current way of doing things is antiquated and hurts the game more than it helps. Imagine that if you created an account on one social networking site (Facebook/MMO-Champion), you couldn't create any more accounts on other sites (Twitter/WowHead).

    It's that dumb.

I meant more that the silly nature of progression raiding in TBC led to the creation of "feeder guilds" who would essentially vet people for better guilds by attuning them to the older content first. I understand this concept is different but there was a similar idea in place back then.

Like one account being used for all of google's products or all of your android devices? It isn't that dumb. Facebook and MMO-Champion are like two entirely different games. The idea in the original post doesn't really seem to apply to "Bench without a bench". Linking guilds would be the same as the server merges that linked servers. Yes the servers are still separate but for all intents and purposes it is one server.

You wouldn't stop any drama over benching. You wouldn't make it easier to casually pug. You can do all of this now but just having chat channels (which are still possible) or using out of game communications for friends/guilds to organize through during off time/benching. Not everything needs to be solved with the in-game client.

WoW could benefit from "circles" where you can have an game-created chat channel for certain people. But that isn't the same as sister guilds in the slightest.

I would like to join more than one guild. Why does our relationship with a guild need to be like a marriage? It makes no sense to me.

I'd like to be able to connect guilds in a way that guilds stayed separate, but all connected guilds had a unified chat, and a unified calendar, so they could pull from each others rosters for groups, but stay exclusive if they wanted to. Something like that.

i know right? why does it need to be like a girlfreind and we need to be faithful to it, why cant we cheat on it, and use and join any and every guild, making guilds pointless as really with being able to join tons of them whats the point of guilds even?

One thing I liked about ESO was that you could have up to 5 guilds at any one time. This allowed guilds to be more about 1 thing instead of 1 guild being for leveling, 5 mans, raids, pvp, world quests AND pet battles. The only issue I'd have with current wow adding this is that so many guilds will want you to be a main in THAT guild, not a secondary raider for this guild and a main raider for another. It could work, but I see it being a lot like the feeder guild system back in BC and wotlk

It actually started in vanilla. It wasn't about attunment back then, but gear. You had "feeder guilds" that were stuck a raid tier or so below the top guilds which "provided" them with new members when they needed it.

I think they should seperate Raids as an organisational structure from guilds, and have guilds be primarily about social connections. So you could then belong simultaneously to a raid group, with tools and functionality focussed around organising and executing group content, and to a guild which is more about socialising and being with people you like.

Mm, that's true. I didn't play much in Vanilla and I didn't get into raiding until around the time SSC opened up so I suppose that's why TBC's awkward guild hierarchy still stands out in my mind.

i cant remember the name but ive used one that allows you to connect two guild chats by having people in the guild have it, and as long as one person in each guild is online they will go

Guild A: Felaplague: Hey hows it going guys?
Guild B: Leberman: Felplague: Hey hows it going guys?
Guild B: Leberman: Pretty good how about you?
Guild A: Felplague:Leberman: Pretty good how about you?

and the addon will choose one person to do it for the guild when somone is online, so yes it is abit clunky as it requires atleast 1 person in each guild with the addon on at a time for the chat to work, but it even works cross server aswell

I'm definitely behind ideas like Guild Alliances (which link rosters, calendar events, and guild info panes, and add a Guild Alliance chat window). I also believe that players should be able to join multiple guilds and "Champion" one of them as their guild tag, then they are only able to get rep with that specific guild while it's being championed (while guild achievements are still passively attained through all joined guilds since most require you to do things together anyway).

    You can do this yourself.

Step 1: Create a Chat Channel
Step 2: Have everyone in both guilds join Chat Channel
    Step 3: ???
    Step 4: Profit.

I think what you'll most likely see instead is Franchise guilds.
