Civilly telling a guy to fuck off and going on with your day is not 'subservient slave type', it's the 'reasonable adult type'. Besides, they're shoes, their purpose is to get dirty to keep your feet from getting dirty, if you think they're too expensive to get dirty, you should reconsider wearing them on the streets. If the asshole ruins your $200 shoes, you have a reasonable point to sue if need be, but I'm sure any damages caused by stepping on a shoe is reversible, or the Jordans aren't worth the $200.

Nonetheless, purposely stepping on others' shoes isn't acceptable behavior, but neither is acting like an ape when someone is a dick to you.
