I work as a delivery driver so I am alone in my vehicle most of the day and I pass the time by listening to audiobooks. I am making this thread mostly to get some recommendations on solid audiobooks but also to talk about ones that I have listened to myself. I am mostly a fan of sci-fi and some fantasy but am not that picky as long as it is entertaining.
Some of my own favorites are the Harry Potter books read by Jim Dale. I have probably listened to them at least 3-4 times over the years. I heard that there is a set read by Stephen Fry as well and have to guess those are also great.
The His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman has a full cast audiobook recording that is pretty great. It's like listening to a radio play with each character voiced by a different actor.
The Dresden Files books kept me busy for awhile. I listened to all 15 books that have been released thus far.
One of my favorite authors is Christopher Moore. Very funny stuff. Reminds me a bit of Douglas Adams if he were American and grew up in San Francisco. In particular a three book series Bloodsucking Fiends: A Love Story, You Suck: A Love Story, and Bite Me: A Love Story That are about a newly made Vampire and the stockboy she makes her thrall as she comes to terms with her new condition and Dirty Jobs and it's sequel Secondhand Souls about a guy who discovers he is a "Death Merchant." Pretty much a working class Grimm Reaper. They have a slightly dark yet at the same time goofy sense of humor that is right up my alley.
Currently, I am just about to finish the last book in the Red Rising trilogy that's a dystopian sci-fi series that at first seems like it will be yet another typical YA series like the Hunger Games and it's many, many copycats but it's closer to Ender's Game on a much larger scale. Enjoying it quite a bit.
So yeah, Anyone have any recommendations for audiobooks? I mostly gravitate towards series as opposed to single books as they will keep me busy longer, but I am open to pretty much anything.
