The HMP Bristol Prisoner was part of racist gang which attacked the mosque in January and left bacon sandwiches on the doorstep. The inmate died while he was half way through serving a 12 month prison sentence for the racially aggravated public order offence.
The racist gang left rashers of bacon on the door handles of the mosque and placed bacon sandwiches on the doorstep.

I suppose he may have a rap sheet that warranted the 1 year for repeat offenses, but the article did not clarify.

It's a London/UK tabloid. His crime probably fell under hate crimes hence it's length.
His death is not considered suspicious, so cause of death is probably too much bacon anyway.

Hate crimes are usually sanctioned heavily, the fact is bacon it is probably just a detail. In France, they use pig heads but I have no knowledge of a sentence after something like this, I dont realy follow the news. The most serious I heard about was jail time for a group of youngsters who yelled ''you know what'' at a group of policemen right after the Nice attack. They were not amused.

Tough one here. On the one side, Humanity lost nothing when this guy died.
On the other side, a prime example of why I disagree with hate crime laws. When littering or at best vandalism get to be treated as some type of serious offense.
