Possible Pay2Win Scenario?

Since I found out it was cheaper to buy a battlechest+legion inc. 30 days gametime and just migrate the char to main acc, over pay 50€ for a level 100 boost (total savings is just aprox 7-5€ but if you boost 10 chars its atleast one for free, anyway) I have leveled quite few chars on "new" accounts.



All of them has gained a legendary within hours of reaching level 110. Two of them have recived their legendary in the first Emissary finished. One in the first LFR and the forth in the first Mythic dungeon. All of theese chars have also recived their second way before they could equip 2.


I felt I was something on track here and when I migrated the chars I in fact invested few euros into another new acc, but instead here I migrated my main toon to this new account. If we talk about "BLP rampup" and such, I was not close to be "on time" for one, i recently picked one up.

The first Heroic boss i killed that evening - Bam, Legendary.


I did, after 30 days when the CD was off, migrated it back. First emissary - Bam, legendary. 4 legendaries in 6 weeks, barely playing on the same toon.
Could ofc be total RNG luck, but when a friend tried to make a brand new acc and boosted a toon (within the same bnet), his toon also picked up a legend within 6 hours from reaching level 110. He has leveled quite few of his WoD 100 to 110 and this have not happened to any of them.


Anyone else have tried this out and can compare boosting a 100 on your own main acc versus make a new and use the free boost coming with it?

I have not tried this, but what you're describing is in no way a P2W scenario.

For it to be P2W you would have to have literally no effort at all spent on getting them. There was effort and RNG in play.

Sounds like a way to cheat some cheap 100 boosts is all.

"Extra luck buff" for new characters and for characters, that have been inactive for a long time - is well known feature in Wow. No wonder, that this buff is being reset, when you transfer your character. For example, I had been farming Vault of Archavon for weeks and months on my main, but...when I did it on my alt for the FIRST TIME, two things happened:
1) Reins of the Grand Black War Mammoth dropped
2) I rolled it!

It's freakin 1% droprate + 1/10 chance to roll it (it was 10ppl, as I remember), i.e. overall chance is 0.1%! Yeah... Old sweet times, when PUG RLs were honest and weren't simply stealing rare drops, cuz they could.

This system - is how casinos work. First they allow you to win something to hook you - they they start to exploit you, while you think, that you're lucky and that reward is so close to you.

Uhm, that doesn't make it Pay2Win, though. This is you going through a long process just to avoid a little work. And then, it is about RNG still.

For fun I tested this on U.S. side.

Bought new wow account with same battle net login, transferred main over to new account, did apprx 10 mythic + and no legendary yet. Will update over the 30 days to see if anything happens or if it works when I swap it back.

For the record I got a legendary about 4 days prior to the transfer.

I remember Dave Kosak saying that this is a great way to get new customers. Something about it being fair because either you play more or you pay more. It was an interview with IGN if I remember correctly.

This isn't a pay to win feature, it's just you getting pretty lucky. On top of that, it's still quite a bit of effort to go through the process of buying new accounts, boosting, leveling to 110, doing content to get a legendary, then moving them back. I'd argue it's far, far easier to just level toons on one account; 4 of my 5 110's have legendaries.
