This guy yet again proves he's off his meds and out off touch with real world.
Aren't there huge walls around the Vatican?

I find it odd that liberals suddenly care what the pope says all of a sudden.

He's important enough to make international news. That's something. And this pope happens to say some wise things from time to time.

Similar to the dalai lama in ways.

How are we defining populist today?

All of a sudden? I can name three popes in my lifetime, and I know their distinct interpretations of catholicism and their views on international happenings. And I'm not cathlic (or even religious).

Let's all ride the Gish gallop.

Pope is the definition of Catholicism, you are thinking about Christianity.

Hitlers career started in the same way Trumps career started.

Hatred, bigotry, racism, taking a religion as scapegoat. That always was and always will be the way of right wing fanatics.

They are suffering, eg. imagine what it would do for Africa, if the pope said that they should use condoms to avoid std's among other things.

And Hitler did gain his power through a democratic election.

They probably liked buttrape people, they did to vlad the impalers brother probably why he enjoyed tortuering and impaling the ottomans so much.

Maybe they should stop doing things that give such people a platform.

Yeah, it had nothing to do with Germany's economy, the clusterfuck that was the political landscape, the humiliation of WW1 or the fact the Weimar government was worthless and ineffective. Just hatred and racism.

The same people who were bashing their head against Hitler screaming "hatred and racism" ignored the real reasons for his rising popularity, just like your kind ignore them today. It's easier to scream "racist" than to address the conditions creating the environment for such people to thrive. I guess we have to learn this lesson the hard way again. Good luck.

So the Pope is not being attacked for his opinion on fuckups like Brexit and Trump.

But the next election they tried to rig and lost votes. They panicked plus Hindenburg died leading to the next fully rigged election which essentially was "Vote us or die" and got the landslide they wanted

Germany's economy was already so far on the mend in the year or so before he got into power it can't be used as an excuse.

Populism is how Hillary got so many votes. Bigoteering is a populist tactic.

Lol, of course the Right doesn't like the Pope. In Trump's "great times" the Catholics were hated too.

Nothing like "populists" claiming that the leader of a billion strong religion is "no one".

    He doesn't dictate shit.

He tells them what's morally right to do.

They may or may not follow. That doesn't make him a tyrant, just a nagging old dude.

Well let us be honest here for a second, after WWI Germany was forced to pay such an absurd amount of cash (causing hyper inflation a loaf of bread cost like 80 billion marks) to other countries that the entire nation went down the rabbit hole without the need of a red pill.
Then along comes this housepainter that says I will build roads, I will make sure everyone gets a job we will no longer pay any money they force us to pay and rebuild the military and lo and behold that daft genocidal little fucker managed to do exactly that (And yes I do know that Hitler made sure Jews got kicked out of their jobs and people had to work low skilled labour for peanuts etc but in the end people saw unemployment go from 6 million to less then a 100k).
So yes our austrian mad hatter got into the top slot by populism but he delivered what he said he would and I am not seeing that orange tadpole the US elected president doing anything like that.

The thing I am trying to say is that Trump may have gotten in on the populist ticket but it is higly doubtful that he will be able to do to the US what Hitler did to Germany (pre WWII) as he simply hasn't got the support for it not even in his party.
You have to keep in mind that there were loads of Germans that protested Hitler (not unlike now with Trump) but unlike Hitler he (Trump) doesn't have any bullies (sturmabteilung) that would have turned yesterdays protest march into a massacre nor does he have the power to send protestors to camps en masse.

My feeling is that people should get used to seeing Mike Pence finishing these 4 years as president as Trump will either leave the White House in chains or a casket and I include the latter remark simply because if you have this many protestors you can safely bet that 1 or 2 are utter nutjobs and will try something stupid at some point and make a bloody mess.
