To use an extreme ideology and try to put other ones under the umbrella doesn't seem very practical, the implication is that other ideologies near it are on a slippery slope to becoming that one, the definitions really don't apply that well when you're talking about any form of extremely large or extremely small government since people's political opinions often change on a level of scale.
On that note, what really defined the evil of Nazism was its imperialism and its willingness to execute people for its beliefs, two things that generally only exist in belief systems that promote a large centralized state. You can't invade other countries without extracting wealth from your own citizens first to pay for your military, and relatively smaller states don't feel threatened enough by their own citizens to execute people.
