    Probably the Godfather.

Probably Raging Bull or Taxi Driver. Both films really capture a certain spirit of the age and feel immediate. Either film is probably the final proof or rather the exemplary realization of Cinema Verite. The problem of truth and reality laid out fully.

I couldn't possibly consider what my "best movie" might be.

But the first movie that I ever fixated on was "The Dark Crystal."

It's a tie between Fight Club, and Starwars Episode 3.

Dammit - why did you go and get banned - I want to discuss this! Come back!
I don't mind the idea of that scene, like you say it fits the theme, but the dialogue was really over the top.

I like bits of Interstellar, and I want to like the whole thing, but... it's hard to forgive the sluggish first act, silly ending and clumsiness throughout. I also think Nolan is a good director who is occasionally undisciplined.

Probably Nolan's "The Dark Knight". (Not really a movie person)

Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope --

    Gotta be Godfather.

Of movies already mentioned, I'll give an upvote to Flight, Fight Club, and Lost in Translation.

Flight & Lost in Translation are just wonderful portrayals of "humanity."

Fight Club is just one of those movies you have to have on your Bucket List though.

Another totally random movie I can never get enough of though... is "Wag the Dog"
