-Press report what Trump said
-So when people read the newspaper/ear the news, did the journal lie or did Trump ?

Well since you are king of logic you must know that the first rule of Journalism is not to run with something unless you have 2 independent verified sources. The point is it doesn't matter who lied, the media has an obligation to check the facts before running the story if they want to be a credible Journalistic source.
