Japan: No refugees, we must look after our own citizens first.

    Source: Faux News Dislcaimer

Japan's prime minister said Tuesday that his nation needs to attend to its own demographic challenges posed by falling birth rates and an aging population before opening its doors to refugees.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced at the U.N. General Assembly that Japan is ramping up assistance in response to the exodus of refugees to Europe from the Middle East and Africa.

He said Japan will provide $1.5 billion in emergency aid for refugees and for stabilization of communities facing upheaval. But speaking to reporters later Tuesday he poured cold water on the idea of Japan opening its doors to those fleeing.

    ---

According to Ministry of Justice data, it accepted just 11 asylum seekers out of a record 5,000 applications last year, although Japanese officials say most of the asylum applicants were from other Asian countries and were already living in Japan.

Some argue that increased immigration could help arrest a shrinking population, which is currently 126 million. Abe says he is determined to ensure that in 50 years the Japanese population has stabilized at 100 million.
I'm not oppose to the idea of sending money vs bringing in bodies. However I know there are a ton of Japanese culture fans here and I wonder how they will balance their love of Japan vs. Japan refusing refugees.

Their refusal is based on logic rather than ideology - Japan doesn't have enough room for all it's own citizens, there is no way they could take others in. Hence the $$ rather than the sanctuary.

How dare they not accept 3rd world trash into their country. Must be racist , bigots, homophobes, misogynistic.
People working 2 jobs in the US (at least one part-time) - 7.8 Million (Roughly 4.9% of the workforce)

People working 2 full-time jobs in the US - 360,000 (0.2% of the workforce)

Average time worked weekly by the US Workforce - 34.5 hours

We are a nation of Refugees and Immigrants. Japan is not. In fact Japan really does not like people moving to Japan. And has never liked it historically. Their Nation is small, and lacks the resources to handle more people.

The US however relies on immigrants. Nearly every single person living here has a history of immigrants in their families. And we do not base our immigrant hate on Logic, or historical precedent. Our reason currently is, "I'm a Republican, and I hate people who aren't me".

Quite simple, Japan has two major problems, lack of space and the lowest birthrate in the world (after Monaco, a Casino city). So, they need to fix their endemic problems first.

Besides that, Japanese are traditionally xenophobics.

Actually Japan is a very xenophobic country, their country is also dying literally and due to societal norms there is nothing they can do about it.

Hmm, what kind of people the Japanese consider historically far worse than Africans and Muslims ? What kind of people the Japanese murdered with abandon during the ''gud old times'' of pure racism that make the alt-right drool ?

(Okay, sure, above everything, Koreans and Chinese, but that does not count for the usual suspects).

Good for Japan. I'm also of the opinion that countries should look after their own citizens before anyone else.

Its almost like Japan is magnitudes smaller than the US.

People talking about "Third world trash" and other garbage. Jesus christ, and your kind pretend to be the moral authorities.

Yeah, I'm sure everyone feels that way...until it is their country begging for help. Then it is, "why isn't anyone helping us??"

Then what do you suggest? Help everyone else first and have your own citizens 'surviving'? I hope you never get to be a leader of a country, everyone would rather be on a neighbouring one.

Japan really isn't the paragon of freedom and welcoming. It's a relatively racist and xenophobic populace.

Besides, their country is already filled with U.S. Military refugees.
