    Advice on MM performance

    Hi Everyone,

There is a hunter on my raid that is worried about his DPS in nighthold, He asked me for some advice but I have never used a hunter before so I could not help him with that. He told me that he is doing everything he saw in several guides.

So I came here guys to see if you can give me some advice to help my fellow hunter!

    Spec MM
    Item Level 887
    Armory Link: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/characte...aguamon/simple
Warcraftlogs Link: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/ranking...626624/latest/ He has several fights on normal.

Thanks in advance for your help!

He doesn't seem to be casting a lot of aimed shots in the vulnerable windows based on: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports...asts&source=63

For ex: at 2:00 he casts Marked Shot but doesn't cast an Aimed Shot until 2:27. In fact he didn't cast much at all in that window. But overall on that fight only 30 AiS total for his spec (Trick Shot). Seems really low.

He's also focus capped for LONG periods of time (which can be explained by his 108 arcane shot casts). He's not casting his heavy hitter (Aimed Shot).

He's also not very consistent with changing his talents for each fight. The ST trick shot build should be used for Trilliax, Krosus and Augar, meanwhile the meme or aoe trick shot using LnL and volley should be used for all others. Since he doesn't have the belt I would recommend him trying the meme build as it will provide a great deal more mobility and good aoe. In terms of cleaving, I'd just suggest he always be aware of timers and make good use of True shot on adds, while also using the weakaura that tracks vulnerable if he isn't already. Makes timing aimed shots a million times easier. And like someone mentioned as well, the biggest difference between his parses and the those in the top 99+ for his ilvl are he casts too many arcane shots and not enough aimed shots, while the aimed shots themselves could be cleaned up a bit to deal more dmg per cast.

There's 'help' and then there's 'learning to play the class'.
These logs fall into the later category; direct him to http://www.icy-veins.com/wow/marksma...-pve-dps-guide

Because looking at these logs it's obvious that he has not read a single word of what has been written

    - He's not placing Aimshots within the vulnerable window
    - He's overcapping on focus with arcaneshots like crazy
    - He's only using 1 pot per encounter on most fights
    - He barely touches windburst
    - He spams markedshot like crazy (with Patient Sniper), but somehow never seems to hit a singel aimshot within the vulnerable window (How is this possible? He seems to actively avoid the vulnerable windows)

Like someone stated above, the guy should try meme-spec, where spamming markedshot is a good thing

He probably would do decent if he went back to the old spec and actually fired off Aimed shots during any of his patient sniper windows. Example:

    http://www.checkmywow.com/players/14.../bosses/1865/4

You will notice he has 2/38 aimed shots during patient sniper windows. That actually takes work since, his uptime of patient sniper is about 70%.

He should replace foci with his bloodthirsty, foci is quite random and is not guaranteed to be up when you need it whereas bti is up ~40% of the time and more during low health when bullseye stacks are up - its really the perfect MM trink.

For skorp, he could try piercing instead of trickshot since the adds burst down so fast and save his cds for add waves, if he times it right, he could pull over 600k with his gear.

As MM we make up our damage on multi target situations so in most cases save cds for those opportunities.

For high movement fights the trickshot build is really punishing since you need to be standing still casting most of the time so he could try the explosive/piercing build to bring his numbers up a bit if he is struggling on movement. This build referred to as the 'meme' build is highly mobile since most of your shots are instant cast but it does not perform as well as trickshot build provided you get to stand still most of the fight.

    hope these tips help
