    New PC solely for WoW.

Like the title states I am building a new computer to play my favorite game. Right now I play on a Surface Pro 4 and it's just not cutting it (decent FPS on ultra low setting, but a lot of freezeframes in raids, some fights drop to 3-5 fps for 30 seconds before settling down).

I ws referred to you fellows by a redditor in the /r/buildapc subreddit.

I ordered a decked out pc but got called back by the missus that pretty much told me to stop being an idiot and spend less.
So here is what I came up with.

    • CPU: i5-7600K (or i5-7600, or i7-7700)
    • Memory: 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3000 (for some reason this seemed like an affordable package)
    • GPU: MSI 1060 GTX 6GB
    • Motherboard: PLEASE ADVISE ~100$ budget (the ASRock H110M-ITX/ac seems like a decent option. No fuss, wifi, 2 memory slots, 1 PCI-e 3.0 x16 slot, nice and cheap too!)
    • Harddrive: Crucial MX300 750GB (I already have this)
    • Case: Fractal Design Define S
    • PSU: 550W Coolermaster GM

This JUST comes into my budget if I shop around, but I have some specific questions.

    1. World of Warcraft greatly benefits from performance per core. The engine is held together by strings and potatoes and hasn't really been renewed for a decade. Is the CPU I suggest suitable?
    2. I understand that the 7600K is the overclockable version of the 7600. The price difference is about $20 it seems. Would it be beneficial to get a the overclockable version and spend ~40$ on a cooler and a small premium for a motherboard that supports it. OR should I just spend $60 more and get an i7-7700 instead? In other words. Overclock the i5 or spend maybe 10-20 more on the i7 instead? Or can I just get away with a normal i5-7600 non-overclocked?
    3. Which motherboard would you recommend. I have a few requirements for this, most importantly, it has to have 5ghz WiFi. I cannot bring a lan cable to it. I prefer to spend a smidgen more to get the wifi than have a separate plug-in card for it. A smaller form factor would be preferred. Mini ITX maybe?
    4. For those that know WoW. Would I be able to get away with a 1050 instead of a 1060? The game is CPU hungry. I want to be able to play on say...pre-set 7 and get steady 60 fps on 1920x1200.
    5. I used to build all my computes myself but over the years I lost interest. A laptop just seemed easier. Has anything fundamentally changed in say the last 10 years that make building a computer different than from back then?
    6. I'd like this computer to last AT LEAST 24 months without major upgrades. Feasible? Please be aware I do not play any other games on the computer, for all intents and purposes this is a WoW-Console. I might want to edit some video some time and stream a bit, but that's about it. My Surface Pro 4 (also an i7) will be used mainly for non-gaming things.
    7. Is the PSU big enough? Or even too big? Would 450W be enough?
    8. I picked the case as it was advised to me to be small and stylish. For me: Smaller = better, if you can recommend a small case of decent quality and looks please share).

    Ditch the wife.

7700 is a waste of money. Get the 7600K and OC it. Even mild OC will improve WoW performance.

Just wait a few days. AMD's new lineup is just around the corner. You'll probably get similar performance cheaper.

If you don't want to wait for amd for w/e reason this should be fine for 1080p.

do not get AMD for WoW

an i5 7600 + GTX 1060 is prety much ideal for maxing out WoW specifically, yeah .. you dont need 4c/8t for WoW, although for any other gaming I would get the 7700

and yes you could maybe get away with a ~1050Ti for WoW, though Id still get the 1060

Wouldn't an i3-7100 at 3.9 GHz better for Wow, since Wow values so much single core performance?

I'm looking for a new card as well, and at a 7, you can easily do *near* 60 FPS on a 1050TI. However for $20-30 more you can do a Radeon RX480 and get a ton more performance, and do 60FPS at a 10 easy.

Spend the extra $20 for the OCable CPU. Get a cooler like the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo for $20-30. Get a better power supply. Personally I like EVGA, Seasonic, and Corsair. www.jonnyguru.com is your best resource for PSU reviews.
