Yeah, the bright colored outline on a bright colored page is a bit off. Maybe a simple 1px black outline on the thing?

As for its usefulness in general... it doesn't do much for me, but I figure this is a first phase in implementing a full system that allows users to earn avatar flairs, so I'm not very bothered.

I mean you could argue why have the avatar when our name is right there on our posts. But I think there's something to be said for allowing people to add a little bit of individual visual flair to their posts. The bar under the avatar serves no useful purpose.

It's just quick recognition. I never notice or pay attention to the join date of people. The banner just kinda quickly lets you know they've been here for a while, they've seen some shit!

The naming format is pretty consistent so you could just change the numbers to check if the image exists. And, as the front page suggests, there's only 1, 3, and 5 year badges.

I just don't understand the point of 1,3,5,10 year banners, and no banners for years 2,4,6-9. Like, that's a long ass time between years 5 and 10, and it's jarring when there's a huge time discrepancy next to the banner and the join date. Especially as the banner is literally right next to the join date.

I'd change the banner to something like a flair or something similar.

Yup the forums had been around for a bit, I only joined at the time in 2008 because I think it was to get some tech help that I could not get on the main Warcraft forums at the time.

I don't mind the badge per se, but I think the design is a bit of an eyesore and does not go well with the site design. Mostly the green one is just too bright.

I joined when Blizzard killed the wow community. On the server forums it was a great place to meet fellow players on the server get to know them personally. I made lots of friends, friends I sitll pay with today. Then they started closing any non related wow thread After that the forums died, the only post you see is guild recruitment's or server drama.

I know I'm pooping on the parade, but I'd also like an option in our settings to turn our own year badge off. Just not a fan of forum badges. Reminds me a lot of a Voldemort forum that takes it to the point where it's not uncommon to see people with a stack of 6 or 7 badges. It can be useful for identifying mods, admins, and contributors, but we've got a join date and post count if we want to see at a glance how long people have been around and how much they've posted.
