I guess that Hollande doesn't realize his country could be next to leave the EU once his sorry liberal ass is ousted from power.

Hollande has the political shelf life of warm yoghurt, who really cares what he thinks. Oh, and he's a socialist so is anyone surprised by his opinion?

We already knew all this? Your point?

We don't want access to the single market, that's why we're aiming for a hard brexit.

I can absolutely guarantee that we will not be paying the 60 billion euros, anyone can see this is just the EU setting out their starting position for the upcoming negotiations.

Surely its straightforward to calculate, we will still pay as before until 2019 when we leave, we will pay for any projects that we have committed to and we will cover the pension's liabilities (probably based upon a % of our historic budget contributions). However, you would also then have to add up all the EU assets and then our share by % of budget contributions would then be taken off the figure.

I also don't think the UK Government will accept that this 'bill' needs to be agreed before and discussions on the future trade agreement is carried out. That would be madness on the UK Government's part. How generous the UK is with regards to this 'bill' depends entirely on how generous the EU is in return.

Make both sides weaker to scare other countries into staying, business as usual.

Some perks will have to go, but I think it's a massive overreaction to declare that all have to go.

This whole Brexit thing is so pointless. Both sides will be worse off after Brexit, UK probably more screwed. And when people realize that they arent better off without EU, they will move to extremist parties like always.

British politicians loved to blame EU for everything for decades, but they forget that it was their own government making most laws, even on EU level. After Brexit, they will get the full blame for the problems.

It has clearly escaped your notice that the EU is a failing trade block. Why is EU average GDP growth lagging behind the USA? Why does the EU have higher average unemployment than the USA? Why would the UK want to continue to be bound by the EU rules and regulations that have produced this economic failure? The largest single failure of the EU is the Euro: Never in all of economic history has a group of nations engaged in an such an act of stupiditity as the Euro. The Euro project must be dismantled. The UK wants to be free of the dogma and failure that is the EU: The UK wants to look to the rest of the World, which is the future. Very sensible of the UK to vote to leave the EU.

The entire point is to punish the UK, so that others think twice about following suit.
They are so keen to keep hold of their position of power, something which further exits would threaten.

And that is a big part of why the EU is in such a mess, it is a load of rules shoved upon everyone to suit only a minority.

Yeah you're right. They wont blame Brexit or their own government, they will blame EU for not giving them the treatment they believe to "deserve".

And that sums up what is wrong with the EU. The are actively threatening their citizen's livelihoods purely to make political points.
