For those that like to attack every news source just because it is a new source, here is the paragraph (obtained from the NPR sources):

The Department expects to exhaust the Special Immigrant Visas allocated by Congress under the Afghan Allies Protection Act of 2009, as amended, not later than June 1, 2017. As a result, the Final Action Date for the SQ category for certain Afghan nationals employed by or on behalf of the U.S. government in Afghanistan will become “Unavailable” effective June 2017. No further interviews for Afghan principal applicants in the SQ category will be scheduled after March 1, 2017, and further issuances will not be possible after May 30, 2017.

NPR is about the most unbiased news organisation you have... check the article itself for sources.
I agree that they are one of the most unbiased state ran media sources. But, that still puts them in the company of RT, and not in the company of credible sources, that are not state controlled.

NPR, BBC, CBC and others generally have more knowledgeable listeners than corporate run media.

On topic, clearly Trump is just trying to keep us safe like he did from the Tibetan women soccer team

Trump is still milking the scapegoat train heavily to cover up for the fact that he has no plan forward. He's trying to buy himself time to come up with an idea before people realize that "keeping all the brown people out" didn't really do anything to improve their lives.

It's deflection. Just like how he meets "Numerous people related to Trump's campaign have ties to Russian contacts" with "WAIT! Obama totally bugged Trump tower, look over there!"

This shit's gonna continue until people start to expect more than petty infancy out of their president.
If you think there is literally no legitimate reason to be concerned about immigration and refugees, I present to you the continent of Europe. The US takes in around a million immigrants every year. No other nation can claim to have more experience with it than we do.

Fun fact: When you read a news article - you ARE allowed to follow their sources and read them too. You won't (yet) get shot for doing a little research.

Took me all of 15 seconds to click on the NPR article, click on the source (government) and cut/paste the relevant section of the government announcement.

Can you cite any problems you've had with NPR in the past?

"It's not just a quid pro quo, 'Hey you help me out [and] I'll help you get to America,' " Marine veteran Zach Iscol told Quil. "It's taking care of those who took care of us when we were in their country."
    Perfect TL;DR of the article.

What else could be said. Just a shity decision.

You've yet to establish that NPR is a propaganda outlet, and there's no real evidence that I've seen that even hints at that.

You're literally using the, "So, when did you stop beating your wife?" argument.

We can agree to disagree. I just think there is an abundance of free press to peruse, without need for state ran media.

NPR is free press, much more free than FOX, CNN, MSNBC etc etc.
Why - because it is free of ownership control of content.

Don't confuse ownership with freedom ... BBC (UK government owned) is one of the most reputable news sources on the PLANET, and they go after their own government as often as not because they have freedom of editorial.

Still waiting for you to establish that the government dictates what NPR (or PBS) covers.

Until then your argument will continue to be little more than that pile of dino poop in Jurassic Park. Just without Jeff Goldbloom to point out the obvious.

It's funded by government, and is editorially committed to the expansion of government on all levels. It's basically robots making robots.

Why not just celebrate and consume free press instead? Why is there a need for outlets such as RT, BBC, and NPR?

The problem is those that think that calling Trump out for the insane fool he is - is government propaganda.

Not only is that entirely idiotic, but not even internally consistent.

Not only is it WRONG, but also IRRATIONAL.

We are TALKING about free press such as NPR, BBC and ABC (Australia) ... free of editorial constraint. That's the point.

You are confusing yourself here, free press = FREEDOM of expression - not press run by free enterprise.

Why is it better for governments to control the media though? Isn't a free press a better product for the consumer?

The majority of funding does not come from the states or local governments. That's about 6% of the total funding, if you don't count grants.
