I've tried downscaling a picture I wanted to use as avatar but it ends up with 54 kb at 100x100 size and it looks way too compressed if I scale it down even more. How can I reduce the size more?

Change the file extension to JPG.

i too have a couple images i would like to downsize. is there a way to crop parts of the picture and then downsize that?
