We’ve implemented some changes to the matchmaker to further define some of the role-flexing Heroes to make more consistent and balanced matches. Check out the details below:

    • We’re limiting the number of stealth characters you can have on a team to 1. This includes Nova, Samuro, Valeera, and Zeratul.
    • When creating Quick Match games, Warriors are now categorized as either Bruisers or Tanks. All existing Warrior Heroes will be considered Tanks, with the exceptions of Sonya and Zarya. Varian will also be considered a Bruiser, even though he is not part of the Warrior class.
    • We’re splitting out Tassadar and Tyrande from the rest of the “Healer” support pool. They’re going into a category with Medivh, Zarya, and Abathur as heroes that provide “sustain” to a team, without being a typical solo-support. These roles will be mirrored in games where they are the only “sustain” Heroes, but can also be placed onto teams with healers.

Note: Please keep in mind that you may still rarely encounter games that do not fit these new rules if queue times are exceptionally long.

Once you’ve had a chance to play some Quick Match games under these new rules, be sure to let us know what you think in the comments below. Thanks!

Exciting news! The stealth change alone is the best news I've heard all week. I hated queuing into Valera+nova and knowing it was a loss already.

Thank fucking god. About time. While the stealth character change is nice, the Tyrande/Tassadar one is the best change yet.

Tyrande can put out strong healing numbers though. Meh. And they really should just buff Tassadar, Medivh, and(maybe?) Abathur to the point that their healing is competitive with everybody else. Its not like these 4 couldn't use a buff.

Zarya is strong because she dishes out humongous damage, with a game winning ult.

Not sure about this one. Both are already heavily priotirized in pro play and balancing around QM isn't exactly helping any of the other modes or making the game better to watch. Additional rules only impacting QM itself, like these, are fine; but Tyrande and Tass are already pulling their weight as second supports and - depending on draft - sometimes as solo. And both will become relatively even stronger with a Lucio nerf, which can't be far away.

Leoric should be considered a bruiser in my honest opinion.

Tassadar is a strong solo support though, although i guess in QM you can't really build around anything and most people aren't that familiar with the game so i guess no real harm done.

True, Tassadar and Medivh are both strong for their non-healing capability, and buffing that would make them OP at the competitie scene.

In what world? Tass needs a 2nd support unless the enemy team sucks, or we're talking silver league. A coordinated team will absolutely wreck a solo Tass support team.

Combined with an artanis, zarya or illidan he seems to do fairly well, as i said based on setup. I find his shield build to be fairly strong.

The stealth change has made QM quite a bit better. Though facing Varian+Sonya with a team that has 3 specialists sucks big time.

Your team had no tanks and theirs had 2? That must've been hillariously one-sided.

Yes exactly this. Stealth was never a Problem for me until they brought in valeera.Im excited for every match that hasnt valeera in it. Lately there is mor of These games, some weeks ago HoTS was a pure nightmare to play. Especially with vallera & another stealth. Many classes just became unplaybale because of that.
