    A bit early for that.

Bottas seems to have the best car but I think he needs more time. Ferrari is also looking competitive. Seems like Red Bull has some more tweaking to do.
Honda is having some major technical issues. I feel bad for Alonso.

He's closer to Hamilton than Rosberg was last year at Melbourne, and Rosberg won the championship. Totally free title for Hamilton in 2016 right?

lewis will win the championship, come the end of the season.

Based on what? one qualifying session at one track? Melbourne is one of Hamiltons strongest tracks for qualifying, he has had what 6 pole positions there, but only two wins? At Catalunya testing Bottas was faster than Hamilton too. To say Hamilton is going to win the championship is a fair shout based on his past record and the car he is driving, but your reasoning has no logic tied to it.

Melbourne is more of a power circuit too, while Catalunya is an aero circuit and Ferrari had a clear advantage over one lap and on the race simulation runs they did in testing, just because Mercedes is fastest at Melbourne it doesn't mean that advantage will remain on other circuit types.

Oh very lovely new thread, thanks for making it!

Getting up at 7am to watch this so I really hope it delivers.

Disconcerting to hear Lewis saying it's not possible to overtake Verstappen.

    - - - Updated - - -

That McLaren is so sad to watch, even Alonso can't do anything with that car and he is trying so damn hard.

Literally would have preferred anyone else bar Vettel winning. Can't stand that finger raising twit. Podium is fine for Lewis if he was indeed struggling with the car today. Think he complained about some floor damage or somat. Competition has defo made this year more spicier.

Was there actually any overtaking done in this race? (Overtaking a McClaren doesnt count haha)

Yeah gotta be honest I'm not a Vettel fan at all. Interesting to find out if Lewis did have damage/problems with his car, but I thought the Mercs just timed the pit-stop badly.

Yea, unlucky for Lewis to have Verstappen stay out so long

Oh for sure - overtaking here is pretty bad they should have realised they'd get stuck behind VES.

Why is Lewis getting such a mixed reaction from the crowd here?

Not bad. I expected more fighting from the midfield pack, but it's still early yet.

Yeah I dunno how that all felt, not really that different. Not much overtaking at all and a lot of people seemed to have very quiet races. I mean Massa finished 6th I think? I don't actually recall seeing his car.

    Poor Daniel Riccardo

Had an electrical issue with his gears.

Started from the Pits after 2 laps had passed.

    RED BULL are BAD

Fixed that for you. Just heard that Red Bull and Renault are at eachothers throat again. Has something to do with air pressure in the engine or something.

What a snoozefest that race was. Nothing really happened there except for those car failures of some drivers. Shame about Ricciardo, pretty sad to miss the race in front of his home crowd.

Ferrari and Mercedes are quite even, Red Bull is almost there as well. Will be interesting year considering the championship, but I really hope the actual race driving starts happening at some point. This one today was a full blown taxi race.

Nobody, except some Brits, like Lewis. He is a cocky asshole.
